I'm confused... is this good or bad? If he is there, he is there, but hoped he would have had more time to develop with the Dawgs. Consensus was that he needed another season at ND after getting tossed into the fray and here we are... again. Cheers!

Exactly...not sure if this is good or bad. Really wish he would have went anywhere but Cleveland. Setup to fail as everyone before him...yet could be the biggest thing since Jim Brown. Could be really good, more than likely not so much. Wish he was a Dolphin.

Backing up and learning from Tom Brady would have been the best place for him.

I thought Kessler played alright last year when he didn't end up with scrambled eggs for brains from their online. Figured he would get first chance

I thought Kessler would start the first couple of games at least but from what everyone is reporting both he and Osweiler have looked like crap in camp. Kizer hasn't been perfect but from all account he has been the best so far. I didn't want him to play at all this year or at least until the second half of the season.

Seems like there are two separate schools of thought with this scenario:
- Sit him behind a veteran for a while and let him learn in a lower-pressure setting (a la Aaron Rodgers)
- Throw him under center and let him learn by doing (a la Peyton Manning)

I'm not sure one is inherently better than the other (seemed to work out for the two guys above) but regardless of what the Browns do with Kizer, I think it's imperative that the Browns pick one or the other approach and stick with it. The worst thing teams do to young QBs is jerk them around with regards to expectations. If they go with the sit and learn approach, they need to actually let him learn and not just throw him in after 4 games of poor play by Kessler because fans are restless. On the flip side, if they elect to let him learn by doing, they need to understand that with learning on the fly comes some mistakes and that they can't pull him after 4 games of poor play because fans are unhappy. Either way, the important thing is for the Browns to stick to their guns and allow Kizer to learn how to be an NFL QB.

He plays for the Browns, so it doesn't really matter if started Week 1 or waited a few weeks. His career is doomed regardless.

...only way I believe he'll develop correctly in Cleveland is if they back up the brinks truck to Peyton's house, and drop DK off with it...tell him we'll see ya in a year kid.

He may have some early success...he may not...but I believe that franchise just does not have a culture that allows coaches to succeed, and quarterbacks to develop.

The 3 spots for quarterback career suicide are Cleveland, Chicago, Oakland.

David Carr shedding that stigma hopefully is only the first domino to fall. DK and MT, you're next.

I find it so silly that people blame the Browns for not turning Brandon Weeden, Johnny Manziel, Charlie Frye, Colt McCoy, and others into franchise QBs. Now the Browns should have never drafted any of those bums, but there was no amount of culture or coaching that could salvage any of them. There's a reason no Browns QB has had any success once they get away from our organization. Bottom line is they just blow.

DK will succeed if he's got the talent needed to succeed. There are plenty of QBs that are franchise guys despite the situations around them.

So I counted 7 incompletions --
2 blown up plays, 1 drop, 1 WR slip, 1 good coverage, 1 batted ball, 1 inaccurate throw high.

Only four throws total that I would call "inaccurate"... showed great pocket presence and his two long throws were spectacular.

hard to say when your going against a bunch of guys who might not even be on rosters in a week but as you said the two things you take away were accuracy, even on his "inaccurate throws" where did he miss? the one was low in the middle and the other high and away on the sideline
those are "accurate" inaccuracies if that makes sense.

then the pocket movement is great. no matter who youre playing those things can translate to sunday play

If Hue Jackson could make Andy Dalton into an MVP candidate in 2015, he can make Kizer a starting NFL quarterback

Dude is going to be a stud in the league. Browns might have finally found their QB.

I think he missed the second throw of the video. He should have put the ball back and toward the sideline. He gave the defender an opportunity to make a play on that one.

EDIT: But I didn't pop in to criticize Kizer. That was a terrific debut and he looked good at the intermediate throws too.
