Not to be "that guy" but as I think I've said previously in this thread...I know a friend of his (I live about 15 minutes from his HS) and the rumors seem to be true. I was told he's looking to transfer. Struggling to fit in and struggled with other things but was told they improved towards the end of the year which gave me hope he'd stick around.

These are all just things I've heard through a mutual friend so take it for what it's worth.

Rumored destinations for transfer, if it does unfortunately come to that, are Mizzou (who he committed to early in the recruiting process) and one of the San Diego schools...maybe San Diego State?

why he was transferring, Williams said via text message, "Great school, great place, just not the right fit."

Ouch. At least the depth is better than last year. Never gonna hit 85.

Welp. We needed 1-2 of the project DLineman we took in that class (Williams, Cage, Mokwuah, Bonner) to pan out and not sure it's going to happen at this point.

I hate to see this. The kids potential is through the roof! I hope he finds the right fit and is successful wherever he ends up. We are in the continuous process of shaping our roster. Hopefully Ishaq winds up being eligible to have a little more depth in a very important spot.

DEPTH wasn't something we needed this year as we have it...the PASS RUSH was something he did bring that we continue to search for

Kills me when kids say it wasn't right fit. You didn't have to pick that school. Was not enough homework done during recruitment process? Lack of communication on NDs vs Johnny's expectations?

He wasn't going to contribute pass rush for at least another year as raw as he is. Love the potential but not a huge loss with a logjam ahead of him.

Picking a school is hard. Both athletes and non-athletes transfer all the time because the college experience is not what they thought going in. Just part of growing up and finding the right fit.

Hindsight is 20/20, my man.

It's really tough picking a school as an athlete/football player. Everyone is going to sweet sell you and you're not exposed to the entire staff/team/school. Once you report to camp, you get the whole experience and you really may not "fit in".

Wish him luck.

Sometimes you just don't know till you're on campus for an extended period. I was at a college paradise during my first stop but it was NOTHING like I thought it would to be like because all I did was study, practice, eat, sleep, repeat. I never felt right there.

I called it last year before they got to campus, two of the DL's would transfer eventually. I didn't know at the time it would be to make room for Ishaq.

Best of luck to you Mr. Williams at your next stop!

I really thought he was going to be an elite pass rusher by the time he graduated. Not sure where we are going to dig up a pass rush going forward.

He mentions in the 247 article that he wants to be closer to home. How is a half hour not close enough?

247 has a quote saying he wanted to be a bit closer to home. Don't think these possible destinations make sense as ND is about as close to home for him as he is gonna get. Just not a good fit for him personally. He had high praise for th entire ND staff, team, etc.
