Just got back home from the game. I assume it was already talked about but he was in a walking boot on the sideline during the second half.
No. 3 Notre Dame 44, Navy 22
At no point in Notre Dame's win against Navy were the Irish remotely in danger of losing, which is exactly what was expected from the country's third-ranked team. However, an early-game ankle sprain to senior linebacker Drue Tranquill is worrisome going into next week's game against Northwestern in Chicago. X-rays came back negative -- a kernel of good news -- but with Northwestern suddenly looking a like legitimate threat, Tranquill's recovery will be monitored closely throughout the week. -- Kyle Bonagura
Kelly said in his post game interview that he was out of the boot by the end of the game and that there is a chance he can be ready for NW.
I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of those situations where he sits out of practice this week but still plays. If there is anyone on this team I trust enough to get enough mental reps to be prepared for the game without actually practicing, its Drue.
I'm interested to see who takes reps at the Buck position if Drue doesn't practice. I was surprised that White was the next man up, but Kelly's quote in this article (https://www.ndinsider.com/football/...cle_bd7cdf39-2567-5f77-a06e-6bf649ffa716.html) make it seem like that was specifically for the triple option.
Yea Drew White would have been about my sixth or seventh guess as to who would come in to replace Drue.
I didn't think that White was that bad. Maybe he provides depth next year if nothing else. Nice the hear that Drue is going to be OK. Would be nice though to get someone else, Bauer or Jonathan Jones some reps to be more effective for the last 4 games.
Not sure how we can automatically assume Jones or Bauer would be more effective considering the coaches have seen these linebackers everyday since June. Maybe the beat writers and message boards created this totally false narrative that Drew White would never produce for whatever reason. I'm happy for Drew, good to see him take full advantage of the "next man in" team mentality.
I'm fairly certain everyone was thinking (hoping) White was going to take a medical.

I also think it's unlikely that Tranquill plays against Northwestern... I think BK's comments about him being out of the boot and maybe playing on Saturday were just the first stages of some gamesmanship.

Agree, you don't see guys taken off on a cart when it's something a guy is probably going to bounce back from in a week. I just hope it's more minor and he can return in a couple of weeks.
The kid that tweeted that video is only a Senior at Carroll High School and he is shooting and editing videos for ISD. Pretty talented kid.
Yea, he had a couple of videos he did before they brought him on that were really good...and he didn't even have field access at that time. The kid is impressive.
"Drue came out of it well. We played him in our dime package, handled it well. He stayed on the field for the last drive and had to make a couple of tackles and really stick his foot in the ground. He feels good after the game, so a real positive trend as it relates to Drue moving forward. Yeah, I think Drue is closer to getting the cast off his hand. I think you might see that come off here if it's not brought down to a very workable situation. But I don't think that that's even an issue right now with his hand. He's able to use it in the fashion that he needs to to tackle and do the things necessary. I think this is much more about being more comfortable with his ankle. But I think he got out of the game feeling really confident that he'll be able to make some big strides this week in terms of playing 1st and 2nd down.
