This time of year, plenty of upperclassmen get NFL grades. It means nothing. They get positive feedback and use it to shore up some holes in their game in order to be a higher draft pick the next year. Happens all the time. Only kids who get 1st round grades, and very high ones at that, are sure fire risks to leave. The others, and there are exceptions, typically have something else going on driving their decision to just get out of college and into the pros at any cost. I'm guessing Nyles is the former and will be back next year to anchor what should be a pretty damn good defense if they can muster any form of a pass rush.

I'm not going that far.

If they can just start out by getting back to average, I'd be happy. LOTS of holes in that D.

Fair enough. He just never really showed it on the field, is all.

There are guys that tear up the combine, and just flat out can't play when put on the field.

So is it effort with him? Or is he just not "getting it"? Which do you think?
I agree he get's eaten up when a linemen get's on him. He needs to get stronger and also figure a way to avoid the contact with his speed. For the later maybe that will happen with quicker recognition skills, which hopefully the experience he got this year will help.

I disagree that he is not athletic. For a MLB he is pretty athletic. He is probably a better overall athlete than Te'o. He just doesn't have those recognition and block shedding skills Te'o has....yet.

I also think he has made a decent amount of plays this past year. 4 sacks is pretty good. 6 tackles for loss, I would like to see that improved. 3 passes defended, I think his pass coverage really improved.

Nyles Morgan had a very solid season. Nothing wrong with getting an evaluation from NFL. Quite certain he'll be back and he'll know exactly what he needs to do to improve his stock.

Manti was pretty much a tackling machine until his senior year when he added coverage abilities to make him more of a complete linebacker. Perhaps Nyles can make the same leap

Very true. I hope you're right.

But...I didn't see Manti getting eaten up by blockers like Nyles does. Of course, Manti was one of a kind...

More so theater drawing the curtains on 2016.

...then dousing the curtains in gasoline and lighting a match.
...then bringing in a wrecking ball to demo the theater.
...then bringing in the bulldozers to rip up the road leading to the theater.
...then firebombing the town.

Sure hope you're right. He could be one of, if not the top MLB in the country next year.

Teo was better as a freshman than Nyles is right now. At best he could hope for a sophomore Teo like season imo. If he comes out this year he is getting bad advice if he is delusional. I will say that Teo had the benefit of better surrounding cast.

That's just a bold faced lie. Te'o was absolutely atrocious as a freshman. What on earth are you talking about.

He's not a 1st round pick

I wouldn't think so either, but I took that as him hedging a bit. I personally expect him to be back, but Niklas basically left to get to his second contract faster so I'm not taking it for granted.

Just posted a pic of him DMing 4 star corner Braden Lenzy. Idk if that's legal under NCAA rules but I love him taking a leadership role in trying to turn this program around.

I wonder if the legality has to do with who contacts who first. From the picture he posted it appears Lenzy sent him the message. So I'm wondering if replying is a bad thing or since Morgan didn't reach out it'll be fine.

If the recruit has visited there's no way you could prove they didn't have an existing relationship.
