Sorry didn't mean to get defensive. It's kinda humorous to me actually because there are some people who thought it was up for debate or they were supposed to be in on the decision LOL

It's not an IE thing...this is a 2014 class recruit thing. They chose a name, just like last year, from some names thrown out to them when they asked for input. They had their own ideas and ran with what they liked the most. IE doesn't name the class, the class names themselves and they chose Golden Army '14
Guess they'll learn early in their careers: Embrace the Hate

Not every disagreement is "hate." I liked "Irish Mob," I don't like "Golden Army." Maybe you think its a great name, maybe the recruits do, but I don't. Who knows, maybe it will grow on me. But I'm not hating anything, I'm not liking something.
As far as the humor part, and I am sorry that I am dragging this out, but is your throwing out suggestions for a class name to recruits any less random than any of us throwing out suggestions on a message board? The way the thread was going, it sounded like people were supposed to be giving reactions. I wasn't trying to get in on anything.
I like it better than Irish Mob. I get that not everyone has the same aversion to mafia glorification as I do, so that's cool. But what's the problem with this name?
Man, I'm not trying to argue with you. I've said that I don't like the name as much as Irish Mob either....I just embraced it because that's what the players want.
Just like some of you might hate that Louis Nix switched to #1...his decision. Are you mad he didn't consult IE first?
I'm confused why some people are acting like they were left out of something....
And throwing out suggestions is not random when the recruit personally reaches out to you.
But what's the problem with this name?
My apologies. I'm not trying to argue either. I'm testy for some reason today.
I guess my point was only that saying I don't like it and thowring in another suggestion doesn't mean I am "hating" anything or feeling left out. If I said, "I think single digits look bad on a D-lineman. Big Lou should wear 88," I'm not hating or feeling left out. Just opinionating...
But maybe I wasn't who you were talking about?
I just don't think high school kids are going to end up wanting to identify themselves as part of a Golden Army for a year. It sounds a little too earnest compared with what has worked: Irish Mob or Bang Bang Gang. But that's just me!
Look at your avatar... Huh?
I don't see the two things as being connected. I have reasons for that, but I would rather not debate the whole thing here. I would be glad to explain via PM if you really care. Long story short, I don't think the Godfather glorified or trivialized organized crime, it just told a story. Also, Hagen's character is a universal archetype that could exist in a variety of contexts. Anyways, people making light of the "mob" irks me me a little. But that wasn't really the point of my post. If I cared that much I would have brought it up months ago. I just think Golden Army is a cool name.
GoldenShowers2014 ?
GoldenShowers2014 ?
I'm with Philly and Lax. Glad the guys found a nickname they dig, but it doesn't do anything for me either.
"The legendary Fianna of Ireland were a band of mighty noble warriors. Entrance was governed by strict tests and codes of honour. Yet the Fianna also had to be knowledgeable of culture, and more specifically they had to be poets. Their leader, Fionn mac Cumhal, got his poetical and Bardic training from an old Bard Finnegas on the banks of the river Boyne (note he was close to water, the element which rules the intuition and emotions).
always thought the Golden Horde would be a great name for a team..the Mongols never get a good rep like the more classical/medieval factions.
