feel bad for guys like denbrock and alford....they probably have the two toughest recruiting assignments in florida and cali.

one could argue cooks' is tougher for texas, but seems like all the time/travel denbrock and alford put in they rarely get rewarded.

those two worked their asses off this year, especially these last couple weeks. great job by these two gents and the entire staff down the stretch.

Sure, those put you in a position to compete with Bama, LSU, and the other SEC schools immediately.

Barf. ND can already compete with them. BTW, the SEC schools were trying hard for Mokwuah.

And, D and O line are EXACTLY the positions that put you in position to compete with anyone

I never understood people who can't see a class as a whole on NSD, and seemingly judge the entire class based on who they get on NSD solely.

Just boggles my mind.

Is no one ecstatic that we've only had good surprises today?

Exactly. It's all about timing with some folks. If we had the exact commits, but 3 of them - let's say Nelson, Luatua, and Watkins - committed on ESPNU today instead of months ago, some folks would have been much more excited. Boggles my mind as well.

Hate that I was right.

Oh well. Still a great class, building on a solid foundation. Lots of potential.

Yeah. We could use a return man/playmaker like Quick but I don't think it's our most serious need. We have guys on the roster who can step into that role.

As long as Wltfong has CB to ND I'm optimistic.

I agree. All due respect to Christian but I don't think anybody really knows where Quick is going. I'm holding out hope.

Amen to the quote above Beau, it was a nice surprise landing Cage and so early today. It's not mid-day yet so maybe we'll get a quick surprise.

I don't think everyone judges the class based on signing day. I think it's just the one or two 4 & 5 star kids that everyone is hoping to land on NSD that puts a cherry on top of the sundae. We're essentially like little kids who got presents throughout the year and are disappointed on Xmas day, because that expensive gift we wanted isn't there.

We landed a pretty good class. With BVG on board, I think we'll have a better shot at some 5 star defensive talent next year.

What over the last few years makes you think we can compete with the top SEC teams? Sure, we can toast teams like Kentucky, Tennessee, UF and compete well with the middle of the road SEC teams. But last time I checked, Bama wiped the floor with us with the best team we have had under BK. There is no evidence yet that we can compete with the Bama's and LSU's, imo.

Also, Let's not start trying to overplay guys like Mokwuah. Is he a good prospect with an extremely high ceiling?… Sure… but he is also a consensus 3 star that no Tier 1 teams had as a #1 option at DT. Shoot… we didn't even have him as that.

This is a nice class. Filled with depth and kids with high upsides. It clearly lacks star studded talent and will need several prospects to beat national expectations for them in order to be considered a success down the road. I give it a B.

Both Alabama and Florida came after Mokwuah late and he told them no immediately. The only school he said he would flip for was ND because of academics. The SEC elite clearly thought he had the talent to be a player there.

Didn't they once send a position coach to his school to see if he'd like to visit? It's not like they pushed hard for him, unless you know more than I do which is fine. Just saying.

perfectly stated sure it fills some depth but it's not top heavy like it was last year. Last years class are the classes you need to bring in every year if you wanna be in the playoffs.

Bama has their fourth #1 class in a row and had some spots open. So they went after him, since as I mentioned, he is a good recruit with high upside. They "needed" him like I need a butthole on my elbow.

That being said, he wasn't a first option for Bama or Florida. They just would both add him if they could. I hope Mokwuah kills it here too, but let's not act like he's a sure fire recruit that all of the best teams were fighting over.

I'm just saying, while I think Kolin Hill, Blankership are steals, we sign our fair share of 3 stars who I don't understand. That's OK, because we always need depth.

My main thing is, we always seem to think our class is underrated because our staff finds low-rated guys who seem like they'll be really, really good. So if we're 10th, our fans seem to think the services are wrong and we're closer to 5th.

You do know that other staffs find steals too that we know nothing about, right? It's not just a ND thing, lol.

This sums up how I feel about the class. Good but not great. Some nice, high upside kids and most of our needs were filled. BK and Co. are going to have to develop some of these guys; not a lot of sure-fire studs in this class.
