Before people start in on his throwing again, lets keep in mind that he was good enough at one point to beat out Kizer in camp for the 2015 season, good enough in camp to warrant splitting reps at the beginning of 2016, and has shown in some games before the injury that he could be an efficient passer.

That said, he should have no problems throwing to our WRs in a Pro Day environment. They still do it with no pass rush, basically you just have to hit guys on their routes, correct?

yes but as we know Zaire is not accurate or a good practice player.

1- he is wasting his time he isn't a college QB let alone a pro Qb.
2. if i was a Wr i wouldn't show up. He is only going to hurt your chances.

1, Let him go. Clearly ND is ok with letting him participate. At the very least he can say he tried, has a degree from ND and is working towards a masters.
2, Right, because the NFL Scouts won't look at that and think the WRs who don't show up have attitude issues, are prima donnas, etc.

I think this is a biiiiiiiit too harsh. It was limited reps/exposure, but he threw a decent ball in his few opportunities at ND, especially the deep ball.

And my goodness... my kingdom for Wimbush to be able to throw a simple slant with the same velocity, accuracy, and throw-em-open anticipation that Zaire had.

FIFY

Going back to Tom Clements Jr season, MZ had the best game I ever saw by an ND QB. Not bad considering it's the only time he played the entire game.

His throwing motion resembles Tim Tebow. Maybe Stepherson will be out of da joint and can catch some balls. Wouldn’t want to throw to alligator arms ESB.

it's worse than Tebow's. I remember last spring MZ had a twitter video out of him throwing in slow motion and it looked so bad.

Taylor Martinez was probably his QB coach

Do you think ND would welcome him back to throw if they thought he was going to hurt their other players chances? Again, he was good enough to beat out Kizer prior to getting injured, and obviously had enough to warrant splitting reps with him at the start of the next season. Do you think you're a better judge of talent than the coaching staff that saw him every day? Obviously he has some talent, but lets be frank...he wasn't quite the same after the injury and struggled when there was pressure in his face. Against Texas and LSU in 2015 he threw just fine though, so lets not pretend he isn't capable.

Like you said he is throwing after the injury and he was just ok before the injury.

And you know that ND isn't going to tell anyone no.

31-37 - 399 yd - 4 TD - 0 Int + 112 yds - 1 TD - 0 Fum in 1 2/3 games vs LSU & Texas.

If Wismbush did that 7 times, he'd be the QB of the 14-0 National Champs.

Warning: If you come back with a but but but UVa, be prepared to defend yourself because I don't observe the lazy, NDNation narrative on how he almost lost the game.

I've been a critic of MZ's for a while, but this is ridiculous. MZ is perfect for this type of environment. There should be no issue having him throw in the pro day.

Those are bad habits smuggled in from NDNation and a few other places I won't shame.

Now if we're talking ACamp level lazy, I'm all about an afternoon at Love You Long Time's Daddy Day Spa & Buffet... where the happy ending is a 5th plate of Coconut Shrimp over Pad Thai.

You feel me?

Forever whatever reason Zaire lost his mojo...he definitely lost his mojo.

You can Blame BK and ND....but you then also have to point the finger at the Florida coaching staff, and then the NFL team that may choose to sign him as a FA, and then the CFL team that chooses to bring him up for a look see.

The Zaire that starred against LSU and against a very bad Texas team...has gone away similar to joltin joe

Gotta think he will be working out with some guys for a couple of days. So what happens if he throws off the charts? Do we still think he has a snowballs chance to get picked up? When Kiser got the nod was he a good teammate or was he part of the dysfunctional season in 2016?

I'd imagine it'll take more than a good pro day for MZ to get drafted. There's plenty of game film - and several starting jobs he didn't win - for scouts to pore through. He might get a shot to camp as a UDFA. But any more than that seems doubtful.

The UVA game isn't even a good example of Zaire playing poorly, because the whole offense stunk up the joint. A lot of it was on the coaches too, we did a piss poor job planning for the pressure that Tenuta would bring. Even when we did have time to throw the ball, the receivers weren't getting getting open during the first two quarters.
After halftime Zaire had us rolling again, then the injury happened. We were never out of it though, and he took care of the ball the entire time: no INTs, no fumbles. I'm not saying he played great, but to scapegoat him for that game is ridiculous. There were plenty of guilty parties for that first half.

Another QB who didn't pan out for Kelly. He just has the worst luck with QB's. Hopefully that changes soon.

I think his confidence was killed when BK went back on his promise. I'm not blaming BK, I just think MZ wasn't strong enough to overcome what happened. Sometimes shit happens.
