If I knew it was proper and acceptable to wish death on someone because of a $#%^# football rivalry, I would. Instead, I can only hope that what goes around comes around through no doing of my own or anyone else that saw this shallow garbage and it comes back to bite him in the a$$. Or worse.

Yikes. I can only imagine what a meaningless and empty life this troglodyte must lead to elicit such a response as this.

UAB running back Greg Bryant shot in Florida, in critical condition

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., May 7 (UPI) -- A 21-year-old running back for the University of Alabama is in critical condition after being shot while driving on Interstate 95 in South Florida.

Greg Bryant Jr., a Notre Dame transfer, is at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach. Several media outlets reported he died, but UAB Blazers head coach Bill Clark said he remains in critical condition.

Bryant and a passenger, 25-year-old Maurice Grover, were found shot in a stopped car on I-95, police told CBS 12. Grover was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The incident prompted West Palm Beach police to shut down the soutbound lanes of the interstate from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. They were reopened at 8 a.m. Investigators are seeking witnesses to the shooting.

A graduate of Delray Beach's American Heritage high school, Bryant had been recruited to start at Notre Dame but was later ruled "academically ineligible" to play for the Fighting Irish, according to ESPN. He was picked up by UAB in November.

A football coach from American Heritage tweeted from the hospital the athlete is still alive and "fighting" for his life.

Prayers for peace and comfort for GB and his family.

As for the shooter...days like these make me root for Karma.

...going to church and hope something makes me stop wanting to go to Florida on a hunting trip.

Haven't ever done this but I'm sure someone on here has. Anyway we can come together for this kid and set up a gofundme account. I'm sure the family will have all types of medical expenses for Greg, even though he is still fighting for his life.

Not saying this to appear rude or insensitive, but don't you think it's a bit premature to try to assist the family? We hardly have a grasp on what the situation is, let alone the family's ability or inability to pay for Greg's medical expenses.

I just think your heart is in a good place, but you may be getting a little ahead of yourself as a fan of a team.

Thoughts and prayers in the direction of Greg though.

This is incredibly sad. I pray that he can recover, it will be a long road. I really wish things had worked out for him in South Bend, I hate to see this senseless violence.

This. There may be a story to go with the situation that changes a thing or two. Still very sad regardless.

It was reported last night by one of his family members, that Greg was Brain dead. I wonder if his family was faced with the tough decision to keep letting him fight or pull the plug. It's a tough decision that no mom or dad want to be in when having to deal with their kids.

Such a tragedy and an extremely senseless act of violence that unfortunately takes the lives of so many young people. What a sad day this is. My thoughts and prayers go out to this young man's family and friends. Rest In Peace Greg! You will always be remembered and will be missed by all.

Dang... I feel so sorry for him and his family.

I wish he could have stayed in South Bend. He could have finished his career here and averted what is now, his destiny.

RIP Greg. So unbelievably sad. Fell victim to what he was trying to get away from when he came to ND.

I can't even begin to put in words how sad this makes me. I did not know him personally but I know he was trying to escape what now took his life. May he rest easy and know he is in a much better place now.

I cannot remember being more excited when a kid signed with ND. I never imagined this day would be what we all remember about Greg.
