More prayers for GB and his family today. I hope they find the SOBs that are responsible. Such a horrible waste of life and talent.
While I certainly appreciate the sympathy shown in this thread, I just want to point out that none of us know the WHY of his death. What caused it, what led up to it; both are unknowns at this point.
This just simply hurts my heart. I remember how excited I was when TP tweeted out the 2 bumble bees when Bryant visited for the banquet. Unfortunetly things didn't work out here, but Greg was still trying as he moved on with big expectations once UAB resumes the football program. Such a sad day.
How could the WHY of his death possibly matter?

I'm with you. This ruined my whole weekend. He was so talented and had so much potential. Absolutely breaks my heart. I was definitely rooting for him.

Apparently one of his family members heard that he and his friend were followed from a club and they came up next to them on the interstate when it happened.
Did a quick Google search of the club and it looks like there's been a few shooting incidents in the past couple of years there.

“It's going to be a tough transition, it's going to be hard and the weather and everything it's going to be tough coming from Florida,” Bryant said. “Coming from where you come from and just being around the people here at Notre Dame it just makes you a better person, it makes you a man and it makes you want to be successful because I told him, I'm in class, I'm all tatted up and everything and I'm in class raising my hand just getting my teacher's attention like that actually … makes you want to be a better person and makes you want to succeed at stuff you never thought you would.”
I stole this quote from a post on NDNation but felt it exemplifies what Notre Dame can do for anyone and what this university was turning Bryant into. I wish he would have stuck through it.
I wasn't going to post what I read on Facebook originally because I did not want to start rumors but when the news was fresh and media outlets had not even released the information. I did a quick search on Facebook and the only people who made mention of the incident were family and friends. I came across one post where a gentleman was upset because he had told Bryant the people he was hanging out with were not in his best interested because they "be hating hard" on people trying to do good.
From the brief post, in my view, it appears the suspected individuals didn't like him for the kind of "star" he was and possibly becoming.
According to the article this may hold some credence because of the quote from the step-grandfather.
Literally got a chill reading that. And now I'm sickI stole this quote from a post on NDNation but felt it exemplifies what Notre Dame can do for anyone and what this university was turning Bryant into. I wish he would have stuck through it.
