Let's hope Tom Cruise uses his witchcraft and puts an evil spell on Mora and the University of Cheaters in Los Angeles.

Mora can choke on a bag full of ****'s...

On this note, let's close the thread before we all lose our shits before bed time.

I hate to be this guy, because I usually hate guys that speak in generalities like this, but there is no such thing as responsibility anymore.

He signed a contract. He weaseled out of it. Authority rewarded him.

At least Notre Dame's academic standard filters out most of the thugs and demented. This probably won't be the last time for us, but the flood gates are now open for all the football U's out there.

Scout.com: Vanderdoes is Eligible

Freshman defensive lineman Eddie Vanderdoes has been ruled eligible for the coming season, ending a saga that began with signing a National Letter of Intent to attend Notre Dame just months ago...

Freshman defensive lineman Eddie Vanderdoes has been ruled eligible for the coming season by the NCAA, according to sources.

Vanderdoes, who signed with Notre Dame in February, made the decision to instead attend UCLA in order to be closer to his family. Initially, Notre Dame denied his request to be let out of the National Letter of Intent, and Vanderdoes went into the NCAA appeal process.

On Tuesday, Vanderdoes was declared eligible during the second appeal process. The decision was particularly important for Vanderdoes as it preserves a year of eligibility for the former five-star defensive tackle. Under the rules of the NLI, by breaking the contract, Vanderdoes could have lost a year of eligibility, giving him just four years to play three.

For UCLA, the benefits of the decision are more obvious.

Vanderdoes could potentially slot in immediately as the starting left defensive end, especially if Owamagbe Odighizuwa does indeed sit out the year with a hip injury. Vanderdoes was listed at 6'4, 305 on the official roster, giving him the bulk to play any of the three positions along UCLA's defensive line. The addition of Vanderdoes could drastically raise the ceiling for UCLA's defense in 2013.

There seems to be a disorder for everything now. Homesickness, the new A.D.D. I'm sure they just wanted to save one of todays youth from a bad case of it.

Here's my final thoughts:

1. I can't believe Mora & Co. so effectively executed this. I'm kind of shocked, awed, and impressed... but more I just hope he has some embarrassing scandal and never coaches again, because I flat out don't like people like him and think that they harm college sports. The guy is in the Kiffin/Meyer/Butch Davis mold of human beings, IMO.

2. It's really, really hard for me to have any ill will at all towards Eddie. At the end of the day, he was a NSD commit who then in a rather complex situation and series of events changed his mind. He then went through the NCAA process, and now has a resolution. He hasn't said anything disparaging about ND in public (that I know about at least) and has, overall, handled the situation publicly in a reasonable way. So best of luck to him.

3. The NCAA is just... wow. Clearly, the burden for appeals is verrrrry low. It's also incredibly subjective and inconsistent. Between their lack of enforcement towards cheaters, lack of consistency, lack of leadership, etc. I just lose more faith in them every day. It's as if they really only exist for legal protection of the colleges and running championships... and everything else to do with the actual governance of the schools and student athletes is handled by a kangaroo court that no one really cares about.

So Mora & Co. gets a big eff you from me. Eddie gets a disappointed sigh and a pat on the back. And the NCAA gets a derisive SMH.

Well......once again we find the NCAA $hitting the bed......I, for the life of me do not understand this one!! They throw the book, refrigerator, and kitchen sink at Southern Cal, but let Vandoeswhateverhewants, do exactly that.....a contract that was signed, by him, not under duress, completely null and void by the powers that be......WTF??????

I'm completely lost on this one......

Disappointing, but not surprising.

The Vanderdoes ruling was written down on the last bathroom stall of the sulfurous hell that is the NCAA committee meeting chambers... a LONG time ago.

One constructive way to settle the angst:

Play UCLA sometime in the next 3 years...

and thoroughly beat the **** out of them.

The rest is just useless complaining.

Hold a scrimmage. It doesn't have to count.

Beat their asses.

Here's hoping.

I was happy when UCLA hired Mora. I thought maybe this could help hurt USC, and it still just might, but now I have a sour taste in my mouth because of the way it may happen. I just don't understand how this was even possible.

Lax, like you said, the NCAA has just shown, again, how subjective and inconsistent it is. This is ludicrous.

NCAA is a joke, and has been for a long, long time. And I like many, have a growing dislike for UCLA.

The situation is beyond ridiculous given what we know. If there are other details that enabled this decision, would love to know.

Who cares he isn't worth wasting time debating over. He can go to Ucla and have fun there. He got his wish and we didn't but hopeful while they are getting smoke we will being. Glad this whole thing is over now even though the NCAA is opening a bad door.

“@SacBee_JoeD: Eddie Vanderdoes wanted release from LOI for myriad reasons. Will report and detail on that. It's more than mere "change of heart"”

how many f*cking times do we have to be told that "he has a really good reason, honest... but we can't tell you right now." It's becoming the new "I have a good feeling, no info."

I want to play UCLA so bad. I think I'm gonna play some NCAA 14 against them, and just run speed option to his side every time.

I hate to say it, but I'm not shocked the NCAA is letting him play. Pretty much falls in line with the way they operate.

However...

Davonte Neal can't because he wants to be with his baby, but Vanderdoes gets cleared?

I think we all know that's not the whole story

Puff, puff, pass.

Hardly the situation with Davonte.

Whats this all about?

DM maybe?

Your post is pretty much where I'm at with this situation. Although, maybe I'm being too naïve, but I've never really bought the Mora tampering allegations. Obviously I don't have all of the information, but I've just never really bought into that angle of this story.

I think you're spot on with Eddie. Of course I'm disappointed he won't be suiting up for ND, but at the end of the day, I don't want anyone suiting up that doesn't want to be there. He felt so strongly about it that he was willing to pay the consequences if his appeal wasn't granted. I never really cared for him as a person, but in a strange way I admire his resolve in this situation.

Re: the NCAA...I'm shocked. The part that's really surprising is this was his final appeal after his first attempt was denied. So the NLI review board denied him and then the Div. 1 review board, with the same info as the NLI review board, granted his appeal. Having dealt with the NCAA on a number of occasions, I'm absolutely shocked with that element of the appeal.

So I'm the only immature one here who hopes the kid never starts a down of college football?
