Is there any truth to the rumor that UCLA is now his #1? They were #3 when he signed.

Everything i have seen rumored and read he won't be in blue and gold.

But no definitive statements from either party? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm personally just wondering if this is all guess work at this point.

So EV/EV's family/ND has reported that he wants to go to UCLA? Or does no one really know anything yet?

There is just way to much noise he wants to go to UCLA. I also disagree UCLA finished 3rd, he was going to UCLA the whole way up until day before signing day.

That maybe true, but after EV signed with ND, he said he was headed to Bama until the night before NSD.

I'm trying to come up with a good reason why he needs to go to UCLA to the extent where ND would look bad for not letting him go...
I can't do it.

I really wonder if he is serious or is just trolling half the time.

Kelly has a team of 85 kids to manage while gameplanning and recruiting. Putting in extra effort to keep a few prima donnas around isn't worth the time and effort. Would you rather have Kelly develop an "inner circle" a la Urban Meyer to cater to the egos of the stars? Kelly lost a few guys that never played a down and a few more that played sparingly. The guys that spent a considerable amount of time in the program, Floyd, Te'o, Eifert, and Nix all stayed an extra year and that speaks volumes more than 18 year olds backing out.

Exactly. UC Davis or something within an hour drive is one thing. But 6 hours away? There are no personal affairs that can't be taken care of from a 4 hour flight that can be taken care of from a 6 hour drive... You're not fooling us EV.

BK is as smart as charismatic as any coach I'd want handling this. If he can't convince EV to stick with ND, we never really had a chance.

hahah I don't understand why anyone would point the finger at BK. Do you think he didn't want Eddie here?

Seriously. It's moments like these that make it easy to understand why some people hate our fan base. Does anyone remember where we were before he took over?

We lost one of the four 5:s: recruits who signed in the 2013 class. That's a first world CFB problem if I ever saw one.

It is and it isn't. Not every 5:s: is the same, especially when you factor in which position they play. I realize that recruiting elite Dline talent to ND is incredibly tough and problems can pop up, but losing Lynch and potentiall EV stings really bad, especially when you consider Nix and Tuitt are probably going to be gone after the next year. EV was perfect to step in and fill that void. We are going to be really thin in 2014 on the Dline.

I didn't intend to minimize the loss Vanderdoes represents. Only that: (1) it isn't BK's fault by any stretch of the imagination; and (2) our problems pre-BK were far worse than this. So scapegoating him over this seems especially stupid.

I agree there will be a lack of depth going forward on the Dline. Recruiting 4 DL in the last two classes like they have will not allow you to compete for championships consistently.

Didn't have the time to comb through this whole thread that has reproduced exponentially since I last checked, so if this has been said, I'm sorry.

HYPOTHETICAL (no evidence, just playing jilted fan):

Let's say he decides to "pay his own way" at UCLA for a year. If Mora's staff wasn't above tampering for the services of an already signed player, then they certainly aren't above a slush fund to cover the bill that EV should be responsible for right?????

I digress, as I'm sure most of you already have.

Yeah we really need to recruit another Sheldon Day who can come in as a frosh and compete for playing time right away on the DL in 2014. Hayes and/or Trumbetti might be capable of doing that, but not sure if they'll be ready physically. Regardless, I feel like ND just became a much more intriguing option to any elite 2014 DL who want to play right away. I know we were already selling Josh Frazier the possibility of coming in an taking over for Louis Nix right away.

Assuming his appeal isn't grant, he'd still have to deal with the consequences of breaking his NLOI; namely, sitting out this freshman year and losing a year of eligibility on top of that.

One Bama fan's take:

"I’m not buying the lofty, monocle-wearing explanation from the South Bendovers that all of these players and recruits are bolting because they don’t measure-up to the academic upper-crust of that elitist **** hole. Are we to believe that all of a sudden, Brian “Spanky” Kelly realized that this many players came-up short of academic standards? So… no one on Kelly’s crack squad of Vatican assistant-commandos bothered to check whether their current and future players/signees were ****-all stupid gradewise the previous academic year? For shite’s sake, Teo was so ****ing stupid he couldn’t even keep his lies straight and HE (supposedly) qualified for 4 whole years of “Mongo no like cancer. Cancer take beloved Kahlua and grand maw-maw. Mango has a sad.”

Oh, and can we also count Kelly among those checking other options (looking to break camp) after the 2012 dream season?

There is something rotten (nay… fishy?) going on inside that program. Players aren’t digging it and if Spanky had such a profound love for that future meteor crater, he would not have been scheduling an interview in Philadelphia the day after the NCG."

WISH HE DIDNT HOLD BACK AND REALLY TOLD US HOW HE FEELS

I don't EV transferring really changes anything with this class. They were going to be thin next year on the DL with or without him.

Let fl st make the first move with Thomas ....wait a week to see how it is perceived and either..
1. Let him go to cal poly
2. Make him sit a year and avoid these kids taking the last leverage piece in this disgrace we call recruiting.

3.dont release him let him sit at home like lynch until he wakes up and wants back. Then say no thanks.

Worst thing we can do is sweep it under the rug and be nice..swayze says it is officially not time to be nice anymore.
