Ugh, even "speculation" seems like an overly dignified term re: Hendrix. I would call that "rumor." It's based on only on the fact that he told reporters he wants to play football, right? But he also told them that it doesn't really make sense for him to transfer before he graduates, and he has 2 or 3 semesters left. I don't think he leaves till after next year.

I agree this is probably just a rumor. I highly doubt he transfers it just doesn't make sense. If he transfers he has to sit out next year and then has one year left to play. If he stays at Notre Dame he graduates from Notre Dame, still has the possibly to get some playing time next year (although that is highly unlikely) and then he can transfer next year as a grad student and have one year of eligibility like Crist did. There is zero benefit to him transfering out.

I'm not saying I think it's Hendrix. I'm informing the poster that this is what was discussed on this board just a couple days ago. Whether or not it's true, I have no idea, nor did I claim to (not saying that's what you're saying, just wanted to make that clear).

I know you didn't know and weren't intentionally trying to spread rumors, but I think everyone just wants to point out that the rumors that Hendrix might transfer are entirely baseless right now. All things considered, it wouldn't make sense logically for him to transfer, nor has he said anything that, considered in its proper context, suggests he is transferring. There are no "early indications" that Hendrix might transfer other than a couple of us posters misinterpreting quotes from the NCG media day. Again, no blame and no judgment AT ALL here; the topic did indeed come up on the board ... just want to try to nip this in the bud before people start saying that Hendrix said he's transferring. As Lax said, that's just not fair to Hendrix.

That he did! Not to throw the thread off track but do you think we finish the class with 2 or more commits? I don't want to put you on the spot but I'm just curious what you think with us being less than a month out until Signing Day?

I have ZERO inside sources regarding any information about transfers. I know of nobody who has presented anything more than unsupported supposition that Andrew Hendriz might transfer. But, without any idea who might transfer I can say that I think there will be a transfer or two, because in my experience, there always is. It might be a player whom I have suspected might transfer, or it might be someone who comes as a total shocker. Players transfer for all sorts of reasons so I would expect one or two transfers to occur.

Not to cast dispersions on anyone's prophetic powers or mysterious implied insider info. but it is just irrational to suggest that Vanderdoes is on the verge of committing to anyone at this point.

He opened up his commitment because he wants to explore the aternative open to him more carefully. He might well like the manner in which one staff or another has recrutied him. He might well be thinking he would like to play for this coach or attend this school based on his limited understanding. But he clearly has not made up his mind and his visits are going to determine wher he will ultimately commit.

He has many factors to consider. I think it is logical to conclude that since he considers academics a fairly high priority, Notre Dame has a good chance. He has also indicated that distance from home is not a major factor, that is great too. If he is not too turned off by the weather, everything else about a visit to ND cannot but help our chances. Who doesn't feel inspired when they are standing in front of touchdown Jesus, or slapping the sign, or entering the stadium? Who doesn't feel in awe while at the Grotto? How can a player not feel how special the place is, if they are not already a hater? If he likes what he knows about Notre Dame, I like our chances once he experiences the place.

I can't get what Bama's offense did to our defense out of my head. We need more guys like EV. He'll be a huge addition regardless of his exact position.

Not to deliberately bring up the NT debate again, but I think things could've been a lot worse w/o a Nix-type player on our DL against a team like Bama. He played a tremendous game. If we could've actually tackled somebody, that game would've been completely different. It all starts up front.

You sir just got me pumped up for the final month! I hate to see any of these guys leave but the future looks so good! I hope Vanderdoes is one of them!

Thank for the information and I think that's good strategy. Kelly & co. have learned from previous years, and more than anything, they're smart to capitalize on an outstanding year on the field to grab as many elite prospects as possible.

I think there is a decent chance he never makes that Bama visit. A strong visit to ND on the 25th is paramount. I like how this is shaping up.

My first post on here guys haha, but i agree Saban is so good it's hard to feel comfortable with them possibly getting the last visit. I know im kind of hoping he ends it early before signing day because im too impatient for this stuff!!
