I would absolutely love for him to be our third WR this year. That would give us one tall, imposing receiver who can go over the top of DBs to make catches (Robinson), one tough-running, RB-like receiver who can get yards after the catch (Onwualu) and a burner to give us a true deep threat (Allen). Then next year we focus on RB/slot.

As SBT previously reported, Devon Allen did make it to #NotreDame's campus today. Photo of him in #13 Irish jersey posted to his Facebook.

Nothing groundbreaking, he enjoyed the trip though.

I did like that he said he was comfortable and commented on the guys and facilities.

Then he went on to say he will play at the college where he feels most comfortable that would be a football first and present a good track program for the individual sport of running: which he does really well.

I hate getting my hopes up.

But I loved watching him dust Darby last year.

I just don't see him going anywhere except OSU and being coached by Urban.

Definitely like that he is picking his school based on the football program, not the track program. Darby ditching us for FSU's track program still stings.

I would rather have a bigger fit at WR but he is the perfect way to end out the wr class.

Forgive Devon Allen (Phoenix, Ariz./Brophy) for being a little exhausted Monday after a weekend that included a visit to Ohio State’s Friday Night Lights, a look at Notre Dame on Saturday and concluded with Michigan’s Big House BBQ on Sunday.

While the 6-foot, 187-pound wide receiver in the class of 2013 hasn’t formulated a top-10 just yet – he plans on doing that very soon – Allen said it is likely all three would be on his list.

Not sure about his other visits, but Devon had a GREAT trip to ND and it definitely opened his eyes to what he could have at ND. Was very impressed with the campus and the academic side of things he saw. Met with the track coach and got to hang out with the Atkinson twins who he knew from track, and they hit it off.

His dad was also interviewed by ISD and that dude is an all-star parent. Phenomenal interview he gave. Besides saying great things about ND, the way he is handling his son's recruitment is just special, and the way you wish all dad's would handle it (actually, sadly, you wish more of these kids had dads in their lives, but I digress).

Even if he chooses a school like OSU, you can know for sure that they will give ND an honest look, and they'll be straightforward with ND the entire way. There will be no games, no hat dances, nothing like that, and they'll make their decision in a timely manner so the other schools have time to recruit other players at his position (when do you hear that - a kid taking into consideration the schools that he DOESN'T pick???). And don't be surprised if ND is in it until the end.

Great news. ND seems to resonate with Brophy boys. They sent 6 to ND out of my graduating class.

Not surprising. Yearly cost of attendance for Brophy is more expensive than in-state tuition at ASU. Uninvolved parents generally aren't willing to spend that kind of money on high school.

Sign me up for getting this kid. Seems like an intelligent kid with super parents. I think we will be in it till the end as well. At least we will get an honest, hard look. That's all you can really ask for.

Top-of-the-list type stuff for sure!

This is a Kelly-Urban battle that the Irish need to win. This kid is way too fast to let get away. This class has a ton of talent and almost every position--receiver included--but Notre Dam still needs a burner for defenses to have to defend too. No doubt, Kelly has pointed that out to him, just as Urban has for sure labeled him yet another reincarnation of Percy Harvin.

Had TDs of 63 and 70 yds last night from what I can see on twitter. Several people commenting that he had a huge night.

WANT.

Anybody have the total yards/receptions yet?

Couldn't find anything definitive. Box Score showed Brophy Passing as 20-40 for 327 yards.

One of his friends tweeted at him that he almost had 300 yards receiving and also tweeted a comment towards the QB for the team saying "Tyler bruggman, you have other receivers dont you?"

Evidently the #2 receiver for the team was out and Devon got almost all the action.

Will take an official to Arky on Sept 14th. Is thinking about taking an official to ND on Sept 21 and Texas on Oct 5. but those are not set in stone like the Arky visit.

Says ND is showing him a lot of love.

Other schools he would like to visit are Washington UCLA Ohio State maybe Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. He might make more trips than just his 5 officials.

Says Stanford is in his top 3 but wont take an official there might just go on another unofficial

Top 5 in order:
Stanford
Texas
Arkansas
OSU
UCLA

I would really like it if Stanford went back to sucking.

Think there would be other indications that we would be in the running on this site. Plus, Johnny, all of a sudden the offensive skill positions are looking a little more competitive . . .
