So glad to have this guy back. He is a difference maker.

9. KeiVarae Russell, CB, Notre Dame
Particulars: 5-11, 190, junior
Skinny: Russell missed last season because of an academic suspension, but he should be one of the nation's top corners this fall. Russell has shutdown-corner ability. He has been clocked as fast as 4.34 seconds in the 40, while his broad jump has been measured at more than 11 feet and his vertical jump at 40 inches. In 2012, Russell became the only true freshman in Notre Dame history to start a season opener at cornerback.

That is just effing insane! I had to say something. I tried not to; but that is at the core of the definition of freakish athleticism!
What are the chances he's named one of the captains this year? He was supposed to be one as a junior, but obviously with the suspension it complicates things.
He's been a roll model in terms of what to do, and what to say, in this type of situation. Got my vote. And honestly, he did not have my vote before this all happened. Kid's got class.

.8. KeiVarae Russell, Notre Dame, CB: The second Fighting Irish player to crack the Top 25 Freaks list, Russell showed off some of his athleticism this offseason with this incredible vault atop six boxes. The 5-11, 196-pound senior also has proven to be a standout DB for Notre Dame. He should put on quite a show after his college career when he gets to the NFL combine. In South Bend, he’s already broad-jumped 11-2 1/2 to go with his 40-inch vert. He’s also extremely strong for his size, squatting 500 pounds, benching 350 and doing 20 reps of 225 -- only two corners did more at the Combine in the past two years
Ironman brought over this gem yesterday. Mike Frank called KVR the best CB he's seen in a ND uniform. Basically 25 years of ND football.
Better than Bobby Taylor? Taylor played in 95, I don't know if Keivarae is at that level yet. I expect him to be by the end of the season, but I would give the nod to Bobby. I would say Russell is the best corner we've had in 19 years which is still impressive.
I think one of our coaches may have an argument too.

SIAP but is anyone else concerned that Russell hasn't been completely cleared yet? Considering how the frozen five situation went last yr is it really inconceivable that he may not get cleared or at least miss a game or two until he does? I sure hope i'm just paranoid.
