OLB isn't necessarily out of the question vis-a-vis "distribution" for this class. I still have the gut-feeling that Okwara is going to grow into a power monster DE, but, if he doesn't, then he's the Cat and Spence is the DE. I'm betting on Spence Cat, Okwara DE--- sort of a murderer's row no matter how you look at it [add Day/Jones/Perkins/and the DBs].

I've always felt good about Spence but the longer this goes the more confused his recruitment is because at the beginning there was no question that they were recruiting him as a DE as someone they could use as a 1 for 1 with Aaron Lynch in a rotation.

Then a couple of months back he says that ND is recruiting him as a OLB which also makes sense because he's a natural pass rusher.

Apparently according to some here now he saying DE again.

Either is fine in my book as he's a gamechanger and it would allow for one of two awesome 2 deep partnerships that would allow for ridiculous production as they could regularly substitute each other without the talent drop off.

Ishaq/Spence or Lynch/Spence.

I feel Spence could fit both roles for a time (his first two years) allowing us the type of productivity that you outlined. I believe, based on what I've seen of him, that he has that type of talent. Which can just drive offensive blocking protections mad. I know it could be a bit far fetched but imagine that type of depth. Destruction ensues. Life is good. GO IRISH.

He's obviously being recruiting for OLB. Fleming and Filer graduate this spring, leaving Ishaq as the only Cat OLB for 2012 and beyond who's seeing significant reps there currently. The staff said it was done recruiting DL with Day and Jones in the fold.

The responsibilities of a 3-4 DE and the Cat OLB don't overlap much. I don't see this happening.

Is Spence even planning on visiting?

He hasn't announced all five of his visits. However, I would be suprised if Notre Dame gets a visit. He has been to Notre Dame multiple times. I just don't think he is a Notre Dame kind of kid. Im not taking a shot at him by any means, Notre Dame just isn't for everybody. I could be way off base here but I think he ends up being a gator. Just my humble opinion.

I'll probably ridiculed for this, but if he doesn't come here I won't be heart broken. Would love to have him without a doubt, but OLB is not our biggest need

Exactly! You said it much better than me.

247 talked to his father and he is very disgusted by the allegations. Were suppose to visit this weekend but he said now they are probably not going anymore.

Sounds like Florida, LSU, and Maryland battle at this point.

Cannot blame this kid or any recruit from shying away from PSU at the moment. It's a shame.

i don't know if i am just in denial or what, but I still think we come in late and sign Mr. Spence. This young Demarcus Ware is at the top of my list.

This PSU-Sandusky debacle may very well be the tipping point to the spiraling decline of the program.

Does anybody know where any team stands with this kid and has he taken any officials? It sounds like the family is really pushing him to play closer to home and I would guess he would be heavily favoring PSU if it weren't for the scandal. It looks like Maryland is a viable option for him. Hope he is watching the game tonight.

Any chance ND get's back in this race with more of the 4 man fronts they have shown the last couple weeks?
