MSU beat previously undefeated OSU 34-24 in the Big 10 Champioship Game. Fox announcers making a big deal that this is MSU's first undefeated Big 10 season since George Perles was head coach.

No mention that Rose Bowl bound MSU lost to ND.

The only QB that beat the MSU Rugged Defense was Touchdown Tommy Rees.

And the only Right guard to handle the daunting MSU DL was Christian Lombard....

Point is it took more than one person to beat them..

Geez, realists/sobering perspective downers. Live a little. Have some fun. Of course, it's a team sport, but the fact still stands as stated above. Sing it, brother.

14/34 for 142 td's, it's a team game, more like the defense won it...

But if you wanna play that game, he also threw 2 costly picks against a 6-6 Pitt team, but I am sure you'll ignore it or it wasn't his fault, something like that.

Funny it was never a team game when ND lost, then, it was always Tommy's fault.

You and the other twit both need to learn how to read what was actually written.

Feel free to post the names of the other QB's with a win over MSU this year. I'll start it for you.

1. Tommy Rees
2.

Your venom runs so deep. Rees won 22 games as an ND starter but only started one season. Only 6 QB's in ND history have won more.

Where did I say that he cost them the Pitt game? Anywhere? Nope, I said he threw 2 costly picks. All I am saying is it's kind of odd to single him out for "winning" the game.
And venom? Are you serious? I'm hardly anti Tommy like some are here. Yes he won 22 games good for him i'm not taking that away from him. So I am not sure where you are coming with this but ok.

All I was doing is playing devils advocate.

I will explain myself further because I know this will probably be used against me. I don't use the word costly meaning he was the reason they lost... That is all, for now.

Well BGIF, I do have to point out that Mich State is not a game to claim Tommy beat them. Curious how well he really did, I went and looked at some stats because I support 99.73% of your posts. It was his 2nd worse game of the year, completed 41% of his passes and threw 1 TD. Maybe he did something else that can;t be measured on a stat sheet? If so, by all means. I just wouldn't say Tommy "Won" this game from a quick glance at the stats is all.

I'm quite familiar with his stats.

Tommy's completions weren't great against MSU, but there was a reason for it. They had the box loaded up, we couldn't run the ball, and the underneath routes were covered. Safeties were playing the run mostly. That opened up the outside passes, which we threw more than any other game this season. MSU's DBs were playing man, and they were getting beat...bad. Thats what drew all those PI calls, they had to do whatever they could to prevent our guys from getting the easy catch. The best part was most of Tommy's throws where long, not short, so they were safe throws that weren't in danger of being picked off if the receiver didn't get there. We should have worked on those long routes a little more, it may have backed defenses up and allowed us to run the ball better.

Several possible completions ended up as pass interference calls as well.

I think the Kelly-Diaco game plan had a little bit to do with our win. Saint Urban would have been well served to have studied their game plan last night.

Good recall. Robinson had the best drawn PI play of the year that game, imo. It was a thing of beauty, esp. for a freshman. Instinctive and beautiful. It took Tommy's underthrown pass to make it happen, though.

If they were getting beaten badly and Rees' throws were long, they would have been TDs or pass interference calls from DBs pulling the receivers back. All of those passes were jump balls or underthrown "back shoulder" passes where the DBs were so tight on the WRs that they would crash into them when the receiver tried to come back to the ball. Also, most of those calls were ok, but the one in the end zone was a horrible call. I suppose it was good coaching since I don't think we could have moved the ball otherwise.

Anybody else irked that the announcers made it a point to say MSU was beaten by the refs in the ND game at least 3 times?

Stats don't tell the story of that game. As someone else posted, MSU stacked the box and forced Tommy to beat them. It wasn't exactly a virtuoso performance but he recognized that he had his receivers in one-on-one coverage and threw the ball down the field where only they could get it, forcing MSU to commit pass interference. Not saying he played great in the game (as I recall, he missed a lot of open guys), but I don't have any problem with BGIF saying that Tommy beat MSU. It's literally true, obviously, and he deserves credit for it. As BGIF was trying to point out, no other QB this year pulled it off.

Early in the game the announcers said that MSU had one loss to ND that they "disputed." I expected everyone to have heard that and there be a thread on it, "The new in thing in college football, dispute your one loss to ND!"

The game plan that beat MSU had to do with Diaco how?

They also didn't mention that the SEC Championship game had been played earlier during their recap of the day's action until the play was starting, and they cut that short to call the play.

The B1G and Fox are just promoting their own financial interests. Given how blatantly they're ignored if not intentionally undermined by ESPN, CBS and their SEC dollar sign interests, I'd be disappointed if they weren't looking out for themselves. College Football is at its healthiest when the B1G and Pac-12 are on top, because outside of OSU and Oregon it's a far cry from how those conferences do business and how things are done in the Big 12 and SEC. So go on and dispute our 'controversial' win over MSU, it won't hurt us very much because every media outlet loves ND when we're good.

I just wanted to point out, for the record, and since the regular season ended, that Tommy Rees finished 25th in FBS 1A at QBR.
