would love for him to be our offensive GA next year...would be a great addition to the staff with all the young QB's we'll have on the roster next year

There is absolutely no possible way Tommy Rees is on an NFL roster, practice squad, etc. as a player. 0%. I'll leave this site and donate all my vbucks to a vcharity if I'm wrong.

You had me rolling with this one!

22-8 record
~ 7,500 yards (third all-time)
61 TDs (second all-time)

All of this with no physical tools whatsoever. Not bad.

This. He far exceeded the expectations most had of him when he came in. Not to many QBs we've had around lately that we can say that about.

Question: Does Tommy get drafted?

Man I wish there was some way he could get another year of eligibility.

I'm in full support of this, and I'm not even lying.

I can see why OC would be a stretch at this point. But there is a seasoned staff in place already. I can see Qb coach tho.

Just saw this. Thanks for the laughs. Tommy would be the least athletic person in the NFL...at any position.

I don't know, there may be some players in Cleveland that would give Tommy a run for his money.

GA for sure. I would be ok with that.

Yep. No way I'd want him as a QB coach for his former peers. Not a good fit. Give it a few years of learning and let the current crop graduate and then we'll talk...if he's as good as we've been led to believe.

GA...sure.

For us I agree. I could see him being a QB coach for Martin at Miami of Ohio.

Tyler McDermott and David "Grimey" Grimes at the two GA's at ND right? Having Tommy get a GA gig at Miami with CM for next season would mean he would have to forgo any NFL aspirations right?

He seems to know the play book and coverage checks. I think that would be an invaluable tool for Golson and the younger qbs during film review and practice. After this season, its quite apparent to me he knew what to do on the field, but did not have the physical tools to translate that effectively.

It's been reported that at least one of the current GA's will leave with Martin.

Definitely, then spread the wings and leave the nest. Come back polished and ready for the big time.

Yes Cack, he knows the playbook, can read defenses, he learned how to use the pocket, and is a proven leader if you listen to his peers and his coaches but ... according to four years of posts here he doesn't know not to throw off his back foot, nor into double and triple coverages.

It's much too soon for him to be an OC or a QB. His father gave him a good foundation, his abuse here has toughen his skin, but he needs experience.

ND is not the place for On The Job Training.

There have been some pretty unathletic QB's drafted in the past...

David Grimes was a GA last year. This year he works with Longo as the assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Our GAs this year are:

MSU beat previously undefeated OSU 34-24 in the Big 10 Champioship Game. Fox announcers making a big deal that this is MSU's first undefeated Big 10 season since George Perles was head coach.

No mention that Rose Bowl bound MSU lost to ND.

The only QB that beat the MSU Rugged Defense was Touchdown Tommy Rees.

14/34 for 142 td's, it's a team game, more like the defense won it...

But if you wanna play that game, he also threw 2 costly picks against a 6-6 Pitt team, but I am sure you'll ignore it or it wasn't his fault, something like that.
