Someone said that he was going to transfer to a pro style football team to increase his chances at the NFL. Any sources?

Who said this? It would make little sense for him to do considering he'd have to sit out a year and would only have 1 year left to play.

At a minimum the very poor source for this rumor needs to be posted.

Would make sense.. 2 blown out knees, his NFL career is probably already over. Not being able to run as quick means not having that option in our offense..

It makes no sense. If he was going to transfer because of the system he would have gone when Charlie was realeased. It's a spread that emphasizes the pass. Not exactly mallett and the rich rod spread.

Dayne is a Notre Dame man. He'll be a leader whether he plays again or not, and he'll get his degree and be a leader in the community. I can't imagine he's going anywhere.

sorry, phork. just adding onto your commentary and mick 1 or 2?

Not exactly, but Kelly said it himself that for the offense to be at its best the QB needs to run the ball.

Go look at how much pike ran last season. There's actually an article on it somewhere

Makes more sense to stay and get a degree at ND to me, and stay on the team as a back up if he really thinks his chances in the NFL are over.

Eric Hansen of the south bend tribune hinted at this possibility a few days ago in an article he wrote. We all know Dayne is a great kid, strong leader, and loves notre dame. No doubt. But think about a few other things here that Hansen brought up

1) Does a QB with 2 repaired knees want to play in a spread? Pro style might be a better fit.

2) Will the job be there for him when he gets back if Rees plays beyond expectations? Will he be healthy?

3) He can pull a Joe Flacco and go to a 1-aa school or D2 school and not sit out a year. Flacco transferred from Pitt to Delaware and got drafted by and is starting for the ravens.

I'd be surprised if Dayne left because he loves ND, but not shocked. Some of it makes sense.

Look, I am not saying he is or anything, but I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility.

Dayne will start next year, Hendrix and Rees off the bench, lets not forget rees was playing Tulsa and threw 3 picks, Neither one has played more than 8 games. Listen to Dayne talk- hes in it to win it-not transfer

I don't see him giving up at ND, though with his knee probs, I'd feel like giving up if I were him. This seems to trying to make a story out of nothing from what I can tell.

Kelly, Crist yet to discuss future - Notre Dame Football Blog - ESPN

Nothing earth shattering but Matt Fortuna is saying Crist could transfer after the season. He is set to graduate this December and since he didn't play his freshman year, he has a year of eligibility left. BK and DC haven't discussed his future but if he isn't invited back with a 5th year, probably gonna look elsewhere.

My opinion, if that's the case, I hope he does transfer to a good school needing a pro style QB. Really would like for him to be successful in his career, too good of a talent.

I would like to see Dayne in a gold helmet next year. He seems like a great person. I still think he has all the tools to be successful, just lacks confidence. I think he could play role like Evan Sharpley did in case Tommy gets hurt. I would hate to see Dayne go.

Wouldnt be at all shocking to see him land at a school such as san diego state or san jose state. Move back to cali and see what he can do with e lower tier school?

Hell, whats UCLA needing these days?

Wasn't USC his close second? They're going to need a QB next year.

Stanford will need a QB

That would be intriguing, but it would hurt. We play them. :(

I hope Dayne knows that I am certainly proud he is on our team whether he plays or not. He is a great guy and represents this team very well.

If he is at all bitter about the way this season unfolded, I would think the first 12 schools he thinks about going to would be the 12 on our schedule. Obviously, many of those schools are out of the question for one reason or another, but Stanford would be a GREAT fit for Dayne. I'm not sure what Stanford's QB situation is behind Luck, but if they have a need I wouldn't dismiss it.

I really like Dayne. I hope he gets to see the field again in his career. I make no apologies about that. Kid has been nothing but class through all the ups and downs (way too many downs) during his career at ND.
