I think the easiest way for the fans at ND to get a tradition started is for most in the stadium to know the words right away. Which is why you're seeing the geriatric suggestions.

Exactly, that was my whole point. Everybody knows the words to these songs, and everyone will be singing along. I'm not suggesting every TV timeout and end to the quarter be a Classic Rock song or similar, just don't purge them entirely. If it's all modern garbage, yeah it's sexy, but you've lost 2/3 of the audience. It's not always about pumping up the team, the team feeds off the crowd energy too. Would you take out Damsha Bua and deny the student section the chance to practice their Irish jig just so you can shoehorn something in from Taylor Swift or The Weekend? Sometimes it's about having fun and getting people on their feet.

Nothing anyone has suggested in this thread isn’t at least a decade old outside of FE!N. These are also all massively popular songs not obscure modern flavor of the months.

1ThunderstruckAC/DC1990~4.02B
2Livin on a PrayerBon Jovi1986~3.64B
3Niggas in ParisJay-Z & Kanye West2011~3.51B
4FE!NTravis Scott ft. Playboi Carti2023~3.18B
5Take Me OutFranz Ferdinand2004~2.47B

Comparing the couple I suggested based on estimated number of total streams. These songs are just as popular. Also if we’re talking about starting a tradition how long do you think it takes people to learn a single song? Oh hey it’s that song everyone on the planet knows that Notre Dane has been playing in the 4th quarter the past 3 seasons. Wonder what that is?

And by your guys logic no one should have adopted AC/DC or Black Sabbath songs. We should be stuck with Elvis hits or the Beach Boys or some 50s shit.

That's not really fair. Those songs were already really old before anyone started using them in stadiums. At least 10-20 years old.

That's not our logic at all. I think we both agreed with your Take Me Out song.

What exactly are we supposed to start a singing tradition with Niggas in Paris or Fein? Just repeat "That shit crazy" or "Fein" a gazillion times?

I for one am not saying don't play those songs during breaks or need a big stop. I actually think they are awesome. They just don't match what I'm talking about as far as an every game tradition that the whole crowd can participate in.

Ok so it's settled then.

-The team will run out of the tunnel to Forty Six & 2 by Tool.
-Here Comes the Irish will transition to The Limerick Rake by the Pogues at kickoff instead of Dropkick.
-After the 1812 Overture we'll have a laser light show with Its a Long way To the Top by AC/DC.

That makes everyone happy.

I'm pretty sure they already play songs with language you never would have thought would get played in ND stadium

Mo bamba anyone?

Your Elvis and Beach Boys comparison is almost as bad as your Flight of the Bumblebees comment. If you're going to argue, argue in good faith. Of course they're not going to play Elvis or Beach Boys, they just don't hit hard enough for a football game. Then again...Sweet Carolina gets played, so what do I know? When you want a stadium singing along and getting on their feet you are NOT going to be playing something from the last 5 years. It's going to be a 20+ year old song that everyone knows and wasn't just a flavor of the month, something that still gets played regularly on the radio despite it's age. It's something that's fun for all fans and not just the 20 somethings, and you need a few of those sprinkled in but they don't have to be the entire lineup. The student section and 1/4 of the rest of the stadium will appreciate something like FE!N, but it's going to do nothing for the rest of the crowd.

The 30-35+ crowd:

Fuck it if we are just listing banger songs (which everyone has done a great job of doing) how about this...

My wife always tells me that bands like Beastie Boys and Rage Against the Machine make her feel crazy.

In all, this is hilarious that for days straight now people have been somewhat seriously discussing about what songs need played in the stadium. Fuck it put in a TouchTunes...

Don't give ND this idea, they'll see it as a money making opportunity!

Related note, our local Applebees has a Touchtunes, but all the available songs are set for 3 credits per play no matter how popular the song or how long the song. Most places only upcharge for longer songs in my experience. In a world where all songs are equal and a business is being shitty, I queue up 3 Weird Al songs because fuck you. I mean, I like Weird Al, but it's funny watching customers look around like "What the fuck is going on?!" and managers start cursing.

Ha, I suppose you can say they are semi doing the touch tunes with the poll of what song of 3 or 4 options the crowd wants to hear.

I've accepted I am old and don't really care. GenX and Millennial stuff is better than what we get today for this stuff. Just saw ND social media posted a video for the UNC game with the song 'Walkin' em Down". It's awful, but apparently it's also 🔥. It's a guy mumbling the same words over a beat that sounds like something my friend Ernie Bleekwater made on his Casio keyboard in 1988.

My final answer for this question in a vacuum would probably be Kanye West's "Power" but unfortunately he's a schizophrenic Nazi so back to the drawing board lol. If the line "Screams from the haters got a nice ring to it, I guess every superhero needs his theme music" isn't appropriate for ND I don't know what is.

For the elders who don't know Power:

It's a shame he's so crazy too because Kanye is from Chicago, so there would've been a legit geographic claim as well.
