So for the Michigan State Game, the video and song that plays before the team walked out of the locker room was "The Boys are Back" by Dropkick Murphys with video highlights and the players doing choreographed poses and screaming in front of the tunnel with fire (not bad music, but the video is worse than previous years). Then the video of the team prayer occurred in the locker room ending with "Our Lady Queen of Victory, pray for us!" (always cool). Then the lights go off and the bell tolls with video of the Basilica while the team walks down the steps and it goes into a remix of We Will Rock You (I liked Dream On way better).

They still do Here Come the Irish into Shipping Up to Boston for kickoff like normal.

The end of 3rd quarter light show is bland and stale I agree. The music is not really recent or current and it feels just like a random mish mosh of lights and sounds. The first one they ever did I think was a remix of Shipping up to Boston with EDM and was really good I feel. It surprised the crowd and was well coordinated with darkness and green flashing lights.

The in game stuff is hit and miss. Sometimes the songs and sounds they play for 3rd down are really good and gets everyone pumped. Other times it feels forced and is recycled from earlier in the game. They have started playing an air raid siren sometimes which I actually kinda like, but probably because it reminds me of the old Colorado Avalanche goal horn.

Basically, I think the atmosphere could use a re-tooling overall but I wouldn't say it's "detracting" from the experience.

That was pretty cool to see on TV. They panned the student section when they played that. They probably have done it before, but I don't remember if they had.

The in game fan experience has been lacking for a while. All of it is self inflicted because of the choices they make. Not surprised they failed to improve it in 2026. They must live under a rock, because I doubt they’ll see the criticism and fix anything.

I think Crazy Train has, in a weird way, actually been embraced more recently since they don’t use it as much. The 1-2 times they play it per game, it always seems to get a rousing cheer.

They should walk out to Hail to the King by Avenged Sevenfold or Welcome Home by Coheed & Cambria. That would blow the roof off the place.

That’s correct, yes.

Liberty is an insane school for insane people founded by an even more insane person. The degree has no juice and alums aren’t even real people so it’s OK to make fun of them. I’m not in trouble *at all*.

Went to the game last weekend with my gf (who has zero interest in cfb) and three osu fans. All of them said they liked the game day atmosphere and liked all of the music. I agree with everyone that everything needs to improve. Just interesting hearing their POV compared to all of ours. Also, I really wish the rest of the fans would follow the student section in cheers/hand motions during games. Feel like it would add a lot to the feel of the gam3 experience.

The Boys are Back followed by the team prayer does not mix. I don't think we need a live shot of the lord's prayer, do a video from the previous game before the hype music. Or just don't do a hype song before the live shot of the prayer.

I personally think they are taming 'And there's a magic... Shipping off to Boston' by making it the opening kickoff song. I think the perfect entrance music would start with the Basilica bells, then And there's a magic/DKM.

I'm sure this won't be a popular take but I've never really loved Shipping off the Boston either. It's a tradition at this point and the song is good it just feels odd like it should be BC's entrance or something.

Cut the Boys are Back entirely. All the classic stadium rock songs are so overdone and boomer coded too, need to pick something modern that will actually get the crowd going. Do the prayer then cut all the lights. Crank the bass in the stadium as high as it will go and blast something like Paris or Fein as the players run out.

Dropkick Murphy’s, sure, is from MA, but they’re Irish in culture and sound. BC never really used them until we did. Typical Fredo. “The Boys are Back” I actually like better than “Shipping,” almost. It’s not a song about football, but “The boys are back and they’re looking for trouble,” is about as appropriate of a lyric as you can get as a team preps for a football game.

What I don’t really like about the pregame is that there are a few different hype videos that play beforehand. Just do one and make it really good. Combine the historical tribute with some of the current roster posing or whatever, put some good music behind it…like, say, the Pirates of the Caribbean theme and roll that into Thunderstruck. That has the makings of the best intro in sports history.

Seriously though—one really good pregame hype video is better than 2-3 “meh” ones.

Also, I think they should have a different experience at night games than day games. Different atmosphere. Different crowd. Generally different (better) opponent. Less small children. I’m not saying ND Stadium will ever be Death Valley, but it should be tough to play ND at home at night. We’ve made a lot of progress on that front in a decade, but in a lot of ways we’re a blue blood acting like new money when it comes to this space. It just isn’t natural at this point. I think the best thing you can do is do things to get the students hype. Everyone else will follow suit. My old man couldn’t tell you Sheck Wes from Shrek, but man if you play “Mo Bamba” on a third down and the students were going nuts, you’d better believe he’d be up feeling the juice.
