Guess Tuck never made the meeting: kinda hard to do when AL is on a flight to So Flo.

Here's to Skip!

I do have to give Mama Lynch some props on going above and beyond for her son. Leaving her life in florida to help her son adjust is a big deal.

Props to you Alice! Wish both you and your son the best no matter what the outcome may be!

He's still on scholarship.... It couldn't be on USF's dime.

Take it from a jerk who married his high school sweet heart. I let go of the best opportunity to enhance my life and then ended up serving 16 plus years in the US Army. Not all bad, but could have been better and easier. Just my life and thoughts.

I had a similar experience. I was top of my class coming out of A-school (think tech school) in the Navy and had an opportunity to take orders anywhere in the world where my job was (just like a top D-I prospect, I suppose). I turned down Naples, Italy (and the rest of the world) to pick San Diego so my then girlfriend, later wife, now ex-wife, could get orders to follow me. Worst decision of my life. And like yourself, I could not, but help to remember that experience when I read of some of the alleged girlfriend factors to Aaron's decision.

I wish him the best in all his future endevours, but I still feel that Aaron might be walking down a similar path with this life decision.

"alright I guess..."

I wish I could really write what I think but I fear it might get me banned. I hope Aaron does what is best for him and his family. Wish the kid all the luck in the world. Truly. And for his sake I hope that we are all wrong and that his girlfriend really does love him for all the right reasons. One of my good friends in college got completely and utterly played by his girlfriend. He wanted to break up with her but she told him she was pregnant. After about four months and no bump she said she had a miscarriage. Turns out she was never pregnant to begin with. She did it so that he wouldn't take a job in NYC and instead stay in Philly. Point of the story, some women can be devious. Totally changed my buddy's life. Seems like some of you guys have experienced something similiar.

Leaving ND is always a hard decision to understand, especially for us. I think I can speak for a lot of people when I say we would collectively give our left nuts to walk down that tunnel with a golden helmet shining in the sun.
From personal experience in sport, quitting when things are tough is never the right option.

Great post man. So many stories like that. Same thing happened to my cousin. Also, my roommate in prep school.

If there is really love, no way you ask someone to give up such a great opportunity just to be more with him. I truly believe that if someone loves you that much, he or she will wait for you. You can't be selfish in true love.

I'm not overly enthusiastic with regard to the painfully politically correct society which we inhabit but I feel compelled to say that some men, too, can be devious. I know a lot of men who have tricked women into staying with them or perhaps beat the women down (verbally) to a point that the women think nobody else wants to look at them. If you can completely degrade a person to the point that they have no sense of self-worth then you own them: I've seen the guys walk all over the girls: stay out drinking until all hours of the morning with buddies (leave girls at home), golf all day and evening (leave girls at home), even take big trips (hunting in Alaska, going to Vegas, Notre Dame games, etc....leave girl at home).

Just saying that in this case it might have been a better choice to say "in love people can be devious". No offense--I'm not accusing you of chauvnism or anything of that magnitude....just suggesting.

Back in my younger days I was a "volunteer" of sorts. I use to volunteer my time as a "handyman" to those abandoned and neglected ladies while their guys were away. It's a great way to "feel good" about giving, without the burden of a long term commitment hanging over your head. : )

(but never to girls of soldiers, because thats F'ed up)

Thread has turned into a regurgitating bucket for soap opera scenes bearing no obvious relationship to anything real in Aaron Lynch's life.

I hope that you re-think this decision young man. My very strong intuition is that it is a very short-sighted one. I also hope that your love will be eternally strong and true, and that there will be some insight as to why it's possible to have such a love and be part of the Notre Dame family at the same time. Nothing really valuable in life comes free. Working hard for a foundation upon which to build your future is a priority need for all of us --- you already know that on the football side. Notre Dame is far and away your best current choice to push you to where you break through to that person you can be.

Listen to your loving parent. She didn't get to be so wise and good at it by sluffing off or going the easy route. If you talk to Mr. Tuck, look at his eyes; see the full Man he has become. Notre Dame is part of that. Forget these self-oriented internet posters who are inventing their own fiction worlds; the true Notre Dame family will happily welcome any young man who wants to grow and make the effort to do so.

Still, go with our blessings wherever life may lead. And God bless your Mom. What a loving warrior.

Can he play in 2012? would like to see if he can stay out of trouble a whole year without football to take his frustrations out on.
