If we can get this commit, I would be a very happy man. He just seems like he's going to be special.

Tell Darby, it's never too late to transfer and we sure as hell could use him now.

As for Ryan, just seeing a guy decked out in Irish gear should be enough, but if you must, shake his hand, introduce yourself and tell him "Go Irish". Don't wink at the kid, you creeps. lol

I agree, winking is a little creepy.

Very encouraging, and looks like he has a wise and strong support system to help him out through this tough process. Really hopes he heeds their advice and makes sure he is 100% sure of any decision before he makes it public. He would be a MASSIVE pickup for the program if he does sign with us.

This. A program can never have too many kids with his kind of athleticism, but even more important is the location from where we're grabbing him. It says a lot about the staff and the status of the program right now if we can go grab an elite athlete that the entire SEC and state of Florida wants. And it makes me like the kid even more that he can see through their BS to come to a real COLLEGE football program.

I hope this update comes true. Crazy how recruiting works. We were just worried about him committing to FSU and now we get this. Sometimes gotta remember that some of these kids are more mature than others. Come on Ryan, make it true!

Per rivals

Isn't close to making a decision per his dad. Will visit FSU and Florida for there spring games. But where this is smoke there is usually a fire. Ryan might have made up his mind but he will take more visits. which is fine i would rather him make sure he wants to be part of ND than have him maybe not be so sure.

The 247 update this morning said that "people around" Green want him to take his time, but that he has all but decided. It kind of sounds like this is a situation where there is a disconnect between parents and player. Green may have his mind made up but his parents want him to take it slow (perhaps like Brian Poole last year).

Have is parents been to South Bend? Maybe they are unsure of sending their son to the midwest without personally seeing the school. I imagine they have seen FSU and UF.

But the other way around.. Brian Poole really never had any intentions of coming to Notre Dame.. His parents wanted him to but he was all gator the whole time.

Green really sounds like he was enamored with ND and his parents are just giving him sound advice in telling him to assess all of his options. I would rather he do that now than 10 games into the season.

Right ... feels weird (but good) to be the school the kid wants to rush to commit to ... we are so often the one the parent wants the kid to keep in mind when he has his heart set on somewhere else. Let's hope that (like Poole) Green follows his heart ...

Absolutely it does.. Especially kids like Green from the SECs backyard. This staffs recruiting has been astounding, even with last cycles speed bumps.

Agreed. Last thing we need is another Justice Hayes.

Hmm... There is a definite disconnect and I don't think that is a good thing for us. Just my opinion though.

I think his parents just want him to be 100% sure before he makes a decision. I think it is a good thing because if he chooses ND there is very little chance he decommits.

What does "disconnect" mean? Sorry I just don't understand this post, and it seemed to come out of nowhere.

I think I may have been the first one to use the term. 247 was reporting that Green had all but made up his mind, but Rivals was reporting, based on a conversation with Green's dad, that he isn't close to a decision. We were saying that it's starting to seem like Green is pretty much sold on us but the parents really want him to take his time and play the process out. So there may be a "disconnect" between Green and his parents which explains the seemingly contradictory reports.

Because there have been two different occasions now where we get "reports" that Ryan is a huge ND lean and very close to committing and then within the same day conflicting reports from his family that says that is not the case. The second part was more that I feel the longer it plays out, the less it favors ND. Just like when we were #1 after he visited last year for the Air Force game and then it sort of wore off over time and then favored FSU.

I do understand that his parents want him to be sure of his decision before he commits anywhere and I absolutely respect that.

In other related news:
Josh Newberg ‏ @joshnewberg247
Oddly enough, I'm told that last weekend Dante Fowler was warning Ryan Green about rushing into an early decision. #ICantMakeThisUp

Fowler was the one that switched from FSU to UF on signing day.

.......

RT @spc_football: @joshnewberg247 I truly think Ryan Green will be a signing day commit.<<< I think that favors instate schools.

To translate. That is his HS team's twitter page (coach?) tweeting to 247 that they think Ryan is a signing day commit and Newberg (Who covers FSU) thinks it favors the instate schools.

:( I agree with you GITF... the longer it take the less our chances are.

Well, technically, they are all signing day commits. That's how I am looking at it anyways. They are all "free agents" and free to pick and choose where they want, whenever they want. I don't have a problem with this as opposed to committing to ND now then wavering later. At least my health likes that idea better.

As I've said all along, we need wins this season in the worst way. After last season's solid yet small class, we need W's. Recruits want to see W's.

Just win baby. Until i hear it from Ryan's mouth or Vader's mouth i wont believe it. Its not easy for kids from Florida to want to come to Indiana. Winning cures all.
