Probably has nothing to do with situation, but this is still a pretty funny story. One of my best friends sits next to Amir in one of his classes, and he was talking about his time at USC. He said how shocked he was by the fact that everyone went to class, especially that football players went to class at ND. Amir said that one of the days in the fall at SC the administration did a random check to see how many of the kids on the team were in class and on the particular random day they found that 7, yes a total of 7, kids signed into class that day. Haha

i'm all about the ncaa imposing a similar ban to schools that don't graduate/make the grades as they are getting ready to impose in basketball starting next year. i see no reason why a similar bylaw can't be made to include a bowl ban in football.

Thats the right thing to do so you know the NCAA won't do it.

Wow. I know they've lost some players due to sanctions but they still (definitely) have a lot more players than 7. lol

Maybe they should do what Ivy Tech does. 4 classes missed of a particular class and you fail it. 3 misses automatically brings you down a letter grade.

I am pretty certain that Heritage Hall had a retort to that annecdote; per Lane Kiffin:

"I personally believe that U.S.C. athletes are unable to do so because, uh, some, uh. . . people out there in our nation don't have pencils and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as in South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, our education over HERE in the U.S.C. should help the U.S.C. athletes, uh, or, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future, for our children."

I'm glad that Amir will be able to bring his versatility to the field for 2012; he pretty much appears to be the prototype for why Coach Alford's role was structured the way it is.

And, just because it isn't said enough, having Amir:

We will be better next year!

He can certainly be dangerous in that role of rb/slot. I'm just glad that we get him next year!

Between Cierre, GA3, and now Amir, this opens the door to running the ball 40+ times a game.
Hopefully Kelly doesn't abandon the run like he's done in the past.

I'm convinced we need to run an offense similar to Oregon's with this personnel. Wood is a very solid RB and Riddick brings some good versatility out there because we know he can also be effective as a pass catcher. GAIII and Amir bring blazing speed and upside.

Then add in Davonte Neal and KeiVarae Russel and Chris Brown.... we've got a LOT of offensive players with ability to stretch the field or make a play with the ball in their hands.

And then you consider the fact that we have 2 QBs you could classify as mobile and 1 you could classify as mobile enough.... we've got some really good fits at that position. And then there is Eifert who is an absolute wildcard and athletic enough to be perfect in whatever kind of spread we run.

THIS. I've been thinking this for a while. Everett Golson can be a better Darren Thomas.

Definitely agree with all of this. Really, when you look at it the only area on the team with real depth/ability/experience concerns is the defensive secondary. I know that we sit with a great unknown at QB, but between Golson, Hendrix, and even Rees or Kiel, I think that their talents at QB, surrounded by the great talent around them at the skill positions, will outweigh many of the question marks at QB.

Really, that was just a long winded way of saying that I'm excited to see the playmakers on the field this year.

Didn't Chip Kelly come to ND last year and spend some time with Brian Kelly. Got to think
our Kelly picked his brain on Oregons version of the spread.

I think our coach was tied up giving Urbie inside knowledge of our program so he could steal our coaches and recruits less than a year later.

Honestly, Urban was there and gone with the coaches clinic. He felt too busy to stay too long after his presentation.

I'm 95% sure Amir has some injury (confident its Amir but not completely sure). Walked by in the dining hall and he's in a wheelchair/cart. Looks like some form of ankle injury.

You sure it just wasn't OJ Simpson reenacting his final scene in Naked Gun?

No body cast in a wheel chair? Could have been Dreyfus, therefore the work of Inspector Clouseau?

I just read that Amir broke his ankle in a vol. workout. As I began cursing and throwing things, I accidentallty knocked the power button off on my surge protector. SO, it will take me a minute to find the source, but I will.

Chiago Tribune posted it on twitter, so look on tiwtter for your source

BK said it in his conference. It was a voluntary 7-on-7. He's done for spring ball, but should be fine come June.
