I just think regardless of supposed ball skills he is so much better suited for wr than rb.

Disagree ...we don't need another 5'10" WR. He is a solid RB who knows how to read blocks and gaps. If anything swing him out (slot it 5 wide set) and have the flexibility to bring him to the backfield on audibles/motions. He will be a good if not better replacement to C. Wood....that's just my opinion.

He is 6'1.5" and good blocking is something that we are losing with Floyd. I agree with being flexible in order to get him the ball in space, but I think Amir will be Cierre's replacement. GAIII very well may stay at rb, but I would like to see him used more as hybrid wr/rb.

Who is is 6'1? Not Amir, who I was taking about....so no GAIII (i never mentioned) thrown in, u and I agree 100%

Amir is strictly a running back he will not play in the slot.

I think he's an RB as well but he did catch a dozen passes out of backfield as a HS senior for over 230 yds or 19.3 ypc. At Southern Cal in a limited role as a true freshman RB he caught more passes than George Farmer and Kyle Prater combined and had more TDs than Farmer, Prater, Marc Tyler, and Brice Butler combined.

I don't expect Golden Tate reception numbers but would like to see him line up as the single back, along with Eifert, Koyack, and two WRs to be named later, and send him out on a wheel route. He'd draw a backer. Nice mismatch.

And then if Golson or Hendrix can beat out Tommy, there's a lot of open green space out there. Otherwise Gunner can hit somebody 30 yds downfield or Tommy can hit 'em 15-20 yds downfield and they'll just have to run a bit longer with the ball.

Options, options, options.

I see Amir came out of high school at 5'10" 175, anybody know his measurables now? Did he put on some good weight and is he 5'10"-5'11" or 5'9"-5'10"? Sometimes the high school numbers are a little inaccurate.

Looks like we're just going to have to get him, Golson, and Diaco all in a room together so we can sort this mess out.

Maybe we could have them do a 3-man sack race in order to get them all side by side (I suppose we could have jimmymac as the 4th man/injury replacement, if need be. Besides, we know he's 5'11, so he'd be a good measuring stick). And it would be clever and subtle too-- not like we're trying to do anything weird...just having a friendly sack race, that's all. But we discover each man's true height in the process. Sounds like a winner to me.

Last fall, Southern Cal listed him as 5-10, 180 (and yes, sometimes college numbers are a little inaccurate).

Off topic, if we had one, Amir will be 20 on 9/24/12.

So what you're saying is he's definitely taller than Diaco?

i think one thing that needs to be discussed beyond size, ball skills, flash/quickness, is who also performs best week to week in blitz pick up among the younger/newer guys.

it seems amir has that experience to be inserted early in his career. its one thing armondo didnt get till probably his senior year. and cierre really was pretty good last year.

It would be my guess that if there were news, then this place would have it almost instantly. So I'm guessing there is no news at the moment.

The NCAA has approved the waiver request by #NotreDame allowing Amir Carlisle to be eligible for competition in the 2012 football season.

Tee Shephard no longer enrolled at ND? For serious? And I can't believe Amir got his waiver approved. Crowded backfield this year.
