Don't feel like reading through the thread, but according to II - the OSU in-home with Meyer didn't go well.

Yeah. Sounded at the time like Meyer tried the hard sell.
Also, not to overanalyze, but that ESPN story didn't mention an LOI from Ohio State awaiting Neal's signature on the dining room table, did it?

As long as Houston isn't in his final group I am optimistic here.

Didn't he just say that his teammate being their wont affect him?

The reason I say this is because his friend is there (dont care what he says, that's a factor), near home, and RichRod is laying it on thick. However, I would much rather compete against UofA for his sig then O$U and Urban Liar.

Would love it if he ends up Irish....would certainly help out with the loss of TayB.

I, for one, move that we no longer call Mr. Greenberry 'TayB.'

That was a term of endearment, I don't think we 'endear' Mr. Greenberry any longer.

I do think Zona is a more realistic player than people realize. That ESPN article says they've signed a teammate of his and hired a former coach.

I think it was BGIF who dropped the knowledge on how only basketball has a rule against hiring someone close to a recruit. It's ridiculous.

If someone told you the Irish could trade Taylor Decker for Davonte Neal, you'd ask where to sign, right?

Why yes, yes I would

What can Kelly and the coaching staff do as far as recruiting Neal at this point? Phone calls, visits, etc., or is ND pretty much done with all that and just has to sit and wait for him to make a decision?

They can call, text, write all they want. Assistant coaches can visit, I believe. Kelly used his in-home the other week, though, and Neal's taken his official visit.

Edit: Whoops. It's apparently a "quiet period" starting Friday. Which means no in-person talking off campus. But they can still call/write/text. Or send Diaco on a a 6 a.m. flight to Phoenix tomorrow.

Cool thanks. I would imagine after the way today unfolded Kelly and company will be putting the full court press on Neal as long as grades/admissions are not an issue.

I only trust Sapp. Wiltfong doesnt' seem like he knows.

This doesn't make sense... Sapp and Wiltfong are in constant contact. Its a team of sorts. Regarding Notre Dame football, everything Sapp knows Wiltfong knows and everything Wiltfong knows Sapp knows. The only difference is that Wiltfong is national recruiting analyst whereas Sapp just focuses on Notre Dame.

Wiltfong is very well connected with the Irish program. He grew up in south bend and has covered notre dame football for the south bend tribune, for irish eyes, for irish sports daily, and now in some capacity for 247 sports. He knows people close to Notre Dame and he gives the ND info he receives to Sapp.

I agree. Suggest he be called "Tee's cousin" from here on out. You know, this whole "shadow" thing.

Don't forget about Oklahoma.

I agree and that's where I would bet my money that he ends up. If he was gonna be Irish, I think that would have happened on NSD. Oh well, there will be talented and high in character WR's are available next year, sooooo moving on ....

He said all along he wasn't deciding on NSD...your statement doesn't make sense.

who is this cousin of Tee that you speak of?
Oh.....that's right...the guy that the world forgot about as soon as he signed with Houston.

Exactly what Irishnuke said. Never once did we hear that Neal was committing anywhere on NSD. This is why I believe the whole "he tried to commit to OSU but was denied" rumor is garbage.

I thought coaches couldn't text anymore? I believe it's called the Weis rule?

If you guys must know (and you'll just love Neal more for this), I've heard that Neal dropped OSU, not the other way around.
