. . . man is it depressing to think about how much time and money has been expended on recruiting these last two weeks, with little if any results. especially after getting Gunner in the fold.

just the involved travel cost per recruit eventually signed at least matches the value of the recruit's scholarship.

and that does not even include an allocable portion of each coach's salary.

wow. that's an awful lot invested over the last couple of weeks, with little or any apparent results.

sorry to sound so negative. i'd rather be positive.

Get Real. Is it your money, or the University of Notre Dame's money? Would you rather Notre Dame just save their money and not try to sign the top recruits in the nation? Come on man.

It's not coming out of your pocket. This is how ND has to recruit. They can't just drive from South Bend to Chicago, Indy, or Ft. Wayne. The Irish aren't going to fill up their roster with local prospects because the talent, with a few exceptions, isn't there. We aren't Texas. Our coaches have to fly to CA, FL, NJ, GA, NC, SC....you get the point.

Yep. Article on BGI this week about how ND spends more than every school in the country except Tennessee and Auburn on recruiting (for all sports, but you gotta assume that football counts for the majority). Interestingly, we were the only school in the top six not in the SEC ... secret to their success, maybe? Anyway, one of the points made in the articles was basically the above. We recruit nationally, so our recruiting expenses will always be high.

Plus, like everyone is saying, we make so much money not just from donations (which are driven by football anyway, let's face it) and ticket sales but from licensing, etc. that I don't think we need to be concerned about football recruiting expenses at all. On the contrary, it's an investment. Your investments don't always pan out, but if you've got a good investment advisor then in the aggregate they'll steadily increase in value over time. Think of BK as our CFP (lol)

what frickin guidance counselor doesn't reccommend to a kid to take at least two years of foreign language if they're planning on going to college. blame this one on the coach/guidance counselor.

WOW. That's devastating. Judging by twitter he's upset about it too.

Wonder if and how this impacts Darby.

Pittsburgh is in the mix now. Standifer will be visiting them. Good luck to him

Well this shouldn't come as a surprise because ND doesn't accept transfer credit from online courses.

But at the same time it's really really stupid that this kid can't be accepted into the University because of one class. WOW. And now we're short on CB's. Way to go ND Admissions.

This is not admissions fault. This is his high school councelor's and coaches fault. Also Pitt requires two years of foreign language too so who knows.

I'm not sure if the University has updated her policy since my time, but I got accepted into the Class of 2012 with one semester of Spanish from BYU online and then another at my high school. Both of these semesters were done my senior year.

I don't think this has anything to do with slow playing someone.

Not saying it had to do with him, but we had real quality recruits that wanted to be Irish early in the process, only to have the staff slow play them. Then we end not even getting Rios or Standifer

I understand people blaming the counselor. That makes sense. It's their job.

I don't understand blaming his coach though.

I think you guys can calm down some though. No need to get too upset. NSD is around the corner and so is an awesome class.
