Both should be a lock; except for the ND haters I can't see how anybody couldn't vote for them both.

No one gets kept out of Canton because of the college that they attended. But I would be surprised to see both of them get in, based on the other names on the list. Don't forget: it's not like the voters vote yeah or nay on each name on the list. They get to select a number of guys to vote for, from the list. There's no doubt that some voters will think that both deserve to be HOFers but not vote for them, because they think that others deserve it more. Plus, Bettis is a first ballot guy. Not many first ballot guys make it.

You are right, of course. However ND hate runs deep, especially among Southeast sports writers.

Those two will both make it eventually.

Two other players that should be there are Mark Bavaro and Ricky Watters, IMO. But in Ricky's case...For who? For what?
