Talent? Tom Bradley's defenses at PSU have always been dominant, no matter what their recruiting classes look like
Coaches? A proven, well respected Bradley and Larry Johnson vs a young Diaco
Proximity to home? Cuse
Academics? ND or Cuse
What would attract him to PSU is what would attract any 18 year old:
--- 40,000 undergrads in a huge college town
--- football runs the school
--- playing for Joe Pa
--- linebacker U
--- 108,000 fans in the stadium
--- 15,000 more girls than ND has haha
I see what you're saying...Penn State has a lot to offer that some homer fans simply refuse to see. Also, at Penn St, his parents can drive to see him play every home game, just like with Cuse.
However, when Lax says that coaches advantage belongs to ND, I'm thinking he means JoePa vs. Kelly. And at this point, it's not even close. One day, JoePa was the man. But right now, he's just a shell of himself, and quite honestly, he's embarrassing himself more and more. He doesn't even wear headphones during the games...he just says go for it or punt. Seriously. Bowden went through the same thing. There is no stability at Penn St b/c their players have no idea who will be their head coach in a couple of years. And that is why their recruiting is suffering.
Also, ND's academics, especially for football players, surpasses the Cuse. You put it as a tie, and while you can definitely get a quality education there (and Penn State as well), an ND degree will carry get you into doors nationally that a Cuse degree won't, plus you're almost assuredly going to graduate provided you put the work in.
