I think it would be nearly impossible for ND to not negative recruit. ND academics/graduation rate > every other major program.

Yea he just clarified:

“@JHopkins247: Armstead has not eliminated anyone, but it's pretty clear this is a race between #Oregon #Cal and #UW - Likely Cal or UO”

When Arik didn't EE, I assumed that was pretty much it for ND. I just like to hold on to the little sliver of hope while I still can. lol

Son of a b!tch, just what we all thought ...

GregBiggins: Another interesting thing Gus said, if they could have gotten the waiver and paperwork filed on time, both boys would be at ND right now

Dear Lord....

What on earth is wrong with the older Armstead to cause this... It has to be pretty damn serious - at least I am hoping it is!!!

Does this mean that the waiver was denied or just not approved quick enough for an EE?

ND was only in it if his bro could get clearance. Cal was number 1 for a long time. With the departure of the DL coach, that changed things.

It's been said before around here but it seems to need reiteration: the health clearance issue HAS to be a real thing. The Armstead family naturally would like to see this as not a big problem, but health pros seem to disagree. If this is a central issue for Notre Dame, and I cannot believe that we would be anything but uber-conservative in such matters, then all the rest of this "now here, now gone, now wait, now gone", etc makes rational sense. Inability to push paper fast enough does not.

Agreed. This isn't about recruiting. This about the well-being of a potential student. It kills me to say it, but it sounds like USuCk erred on the side of common sense for once and the medical team at ND agreed. If that means that we lose out on a guy that wants to play with his brother...so be it. Best of luck to them in finding a university that will clear Armond...and rest assured, someone will just for the chance to sign baby brother. I sincerely wish them luck...

That said, with the nonsense this past couple of years with Declan falling off the tower in high winds yada, yada, yada..... I'm kind of happy that we didn't take a flyer on this kid based on the chance that he drops dead on the field do to a medical that ND just kinda turned a blind eye to just to get his kid brother. We don't need anymore media hot flashes.

Give me the kids that have committed to date and let's get busy.

Go Irish.

Yep. It's too bad, and the Armsteads seem like good people. But this seems like the right decision.

i dont believe at all. The possibility to play with his bro for 1 year made ND a lock? plzzzz. What about the other 3 years, what about the other 4 years cuz he redshirted and didnt even get to play with his brother. So Arik felt strongly enough about ND that now supposedly ND isnt even top 3, cuz a school he never visited is.

I still believe if ND was truly an option for Arik he would have tagged along with his bro, now since he hasnt made an unofficial to washington campus perhaps money truly was an issue and he couldnt. I just found it odd cuz im assuming all he had to really do was add a change to the plane ticket he already had. Then again why bother if you are on your way home to pack for Cal prior to bombshell.

Their Dad was quoted as saying yesterday if the paperwork was approved, they would both be at ND right now.
