Hayden Fry's defensive coordinator at Iowa, recently Iowa State secondary coach... Can't find his wiki page but I am pretty sure he is kinda old relative to coaching... like in his 60's

Perfect. How does he like field turf and Jumbotrons?

I think he was the recruiting coordinator for ISU as well. He coached Diaco and Cooks during their playing days.

ISD talked about him tonight on Power Hour. Very good recruiter and has coached alot of guys that went on to play in the NFL. Was Cooks secondary coach when he played at Iowa. My guess is he will be special teams coordinator and possibly recruiting coordinator.

Can't put my finger on it, but I like something about the fact that he has history with Cooks and Diaco. Somehow, that seems like a good thing to me. I'll come back to this thought after thinking about it some.

He also worked alongside Tony Alford. Supposed to be a very likeable guy who knows his stuff both on-field and recruiting. Taught Tony Alford a few things about recruiting (and look how good Alford is)

If this fellow could put a formidable pass defense out there in the Big 12, then he's REAL good. Needless to say, we need the special teams work too. Given his age, he, like Hiestand, may be looking for a good job where he can settle in and retire. If Kelly succeeds he's made a brilliant move. How would any of us like to retire as a respected Notre Dame coach and continue to be honored on campus and mess around with the new staffs and practices or whatever when you wanted??

You know, the more I think about it: this Kelly guy must be pretty smart.....

LOL

One thing I did noticed looking at their offer list and their class. They recruit guys from all over the country. Heavy in Texas, California, and Florida. This guy must have ties pretty much everywhere in recruiting. That's pretty good for Notre Dame.

Helped put together two Top 6 defenses in 2002 and 2003 as an assistant at Kansas State.

He's legit.

They said he coached some of Bill Snyder's best defenses ever at K-State. I am a big fan of this hire.

Chemistry. Being on the same page as opposed to the Tenuta/Brown '09 fiasco.
