I graduated from ND, but as a football player, having the right system and right position coach is crucial. I love ND, and this has nothing to do with ND as a school. As a football player, I would want to know who my position coach is going to be and how I can expect to be developed over the course of my time there.

You sir, are no Louis Nix. :)

This is why I believe Coach is immediately on top of who his O-Line coach will be, and we'll be hearing that soon. If not, then the Martin visit should have told Taylor that if he just sticks with us until ...... then Kelly will announce the hire and he can have a personal visit. That ought to restore sanity to the situation. Fingers crossed, folks, for a good sound quick and personable hire.

As long as we make an OL coach hire quickly and it isn't a schmuck I think we are set.

I feel good about our chances of keeping Decker in the fold now.

Despite last year's recruiting rollercoaster, the staff managed to keep or reel back in virtually every big recruit with whom we had a realistic shot. I expect this year to be no different.

Meyers first business assignment recruiting-wise for Warinner and Hinton will be to go get Decker.

Guaranteed.

Gotta hope the boy is solid...

Told Mahone that they are going to run the ball more. Hope it's not lip service.

If we can't improve our play at QB, wouldn't running the ball more be the best way to improve the offense? Perhaps reduce TO's in the red zone by doing so. Strong O Line play is essential to be effective though.

Keep in mind that if Hendrix or Golson start next year that innately increases our rushing as well.

Im hoping Martin can influence Kelly to run it more in key situations. We all saw that Kelly loves to pass when the going gets tough, even when the situation calls for a run play.

Would be great but is the feeling mutual? Does Heck even want to coach in college?

idk for sure, but right now that's the only name i've heard for an O line coach and it tickled my fancy. seems like it would be a good fit.

Heck learned from the legendary coach, would like to see him back in South Bend.

Pretty much every player who started on our OL during Moore's tenure ended up in the league. It wasn't just his knowledge, but his attitude and teaching methods. Hardass.

Heck would be a nice catch, but pure speculation at this point. I wonder how not having a position coach will impact any chance we have at Josh G in addition to Decker.

We need to get this fixed right away. I don't want to lose this kid. He is going to be a fixture on our Oline if he sticks. He, said per IrishEyes that he needs to think about his re-affirment of his verbal. This is after our new OC met with him.

Crazy times, I hope there is a back-up plan for other Olineman. Thanks to Ronnie re-affirming his committment, as well as Harrell.

He also said "I chose ND for ND."

not that i like to do this, but if decker de-commits i say we wait on another o lineman for next years class of 2013. there's a ton of early interested elite guys and then we can use taylor's scholly on another position of need or desire this year.

in no way do i want him to de-commit just throwing out the possibility and possible solution.

Yeah, I don't think Decker decommits, but if he does I totally agree with you. If he does jump ship you extend an offer to Kyle Bosch immediately and boom... problem solved.

yep...a lot of guys on the 2013 radar that would gladly accept an ND scholly imo. we're sitting very favorably right now with a number of them.
