Decker said that it would take a coaching change at ND for him to even consider opening up his recruitment. I am HOPING that doesn't refer to his assistant coach recruiter who has been largely rumored to join Tressel's staff. But suffice to say we're not in any immediate danger at all sans our admin going loco and sacking Kelly.

I wish I could see that troll's (Kilmer) comments. :(

I also figured that the only thing that would make Decker leave would be a coaching change. He's a smart kid. He was being honest with the 99.9% chance he flipped. The .1% would be the chance Kelly is gone.

Yeah, I wish the Kilmer thread wasn't locked so we could rip him some more. My favorite was when he used broken English and grammatical errors while pretending that he transferred from ND to Ohio State.

Oh, the internet. Where everyone is a 6'4" ripped Rhodes Scholar with "sources."

From Sapp:

Just received a call from Notre Dame offensive tackle commit Taylor Decker to let me know that he received a call from new Ohio State coach Urban Meyer tonight.

As reported yesterday, the 6-8, 315-pound Vandalia (Ohio) Butler player had an Ohio State coach by his school this weekend after Meyer had reached out to his head coach, but he didn't talk to the him.

Decker did field the call from Meyer and noted he'd be lying if it wasn't "exciting" to talk Meyer for about 15 minutes, but nothing has changed with his recruitment.

"I'm solid to Notre Dame," the four-star prospect said.

Decker noted that Meyer mentioned he coached for the Irish and said he has great respect for the program. He didn't negatively recruit and said he was just checking in to see if there was any interest, and to get back in touch with him if he changes his mind at all.

He hasn't been offered by Ohio State.

Decker will talk thing over with his parents, but he has maintained that he's happy with his decision and reiterated what was in the full report linked below:

Meyer NOT bull-dozing in on a Notre Dame commit doesn't surprise me. At this stage of a recruiting cycle it's probably not even good psychology to come on that strong. Plus, I, unlike others on the board, don't think that his heart would really be in it. OSU can get practically anyone in Ohio they want right now, and I'd worry more if I were Hoke about flips [ this is purely a speculation, but if he called Decker's coach, why not Kalis', for many more reasons?]

Like this kid already. He has a mohawk in his Rivals picture, and a supposed mean streak. 20 bucks says he has a full-sleeve of tats and is a pancake machine in a few years.

Kelly and Hinton are visiting him tomorrow. His brother in laws are trying to push him to OSU.

Also of note apparently Sapp has heard from some prospects that some other programs have been taking shots at BK while talking with them. One can only assume it is about his sideline demeanor.

Gotta love negative recruiting. I promise you Mattison has been neg recruiting since day... he is notorious for that crap.

It cracks me up because that sideline demeanor crap is all one big ESPN "gotcha" on ND. Nick Saban is just as bad or worse and no one EVER says a peep about it. Laughable.

To expand on why it pisses me off to no end that Nick Saban gets a free pass when the man is a downright questionable human being ON TOP OF having awful sideline demeanor 24x7... please read this short article and then imagine if Notre Dame's coach had done something like that. He would be crucified.

Former Dolphin Says Nick Saban Calmly Stepped Over Convulsing Teammate In '05

Snippets for those TLDR types:
Jeno James, our best offensive lineman at the time, comes in and collapses after practice, uh, vomiting all kinds of stuff that would make a billy goat puke, eyes rolled in the back of his head. Myself, about four other lineman are trying to carry him from the locker room, to the training room...

Nick Saban literally just starts walking in, steps over Jeno James convulsing, doesn't say a word, doesn't try to help, goes upstairs, I don't know what he does. But then obviously they get Jeno trauma-offed to the hospital.

Saban calls a team meeting about 10:30 that night. [He] comes down and says, "You know, the captain of the ship can never show fear or indecision, we've always gotta have an answer, and so I had to go upstairs. That's why I walked over Jeno like that, I had to collect my thoughts and decide what's best for our team."

And I'm thinking to myself..."Did he, does he really believe what he's just saying?" He showed no human emotion for one of his best players. He literally stepped over him when four or five grown men are trying to carry Jeno to the training room.

Do you realize what you just said? He gets mad at DUMB mistakes. If you don't get mad at dumb mistakes, you really shouldn't be coaching...

I apologize for this off-topic post.

Back on topic, who the hell would listen to their in-laws?

I think he was saying its unbelievable how BK getting mad over dumb mistakes gets blown out of proportion, not that he is wrong for doing it.

Yeah, but Saban is a proven winner and they get that pass. BK will too if he ever wins a championship.

Doesn't Kelly have two national championships? Aren't Big East, MAC, MIFC, and GLIAC Championships, championships?

Also,

Nick Saban's winning percentage: 72.8%
Brian Kelly's winning percentage: 74.2%

Just sayin'...

I don't think D2/3 championships grant you the 'pass' with the national media.

This is major college football. Not pop warner. Go play chess if you don't like being yelled at. I'm sure we get way more pissed than Kelly behind our TVs, I know I do.

Apparently old Urban is up to old tricks, trying to get to Taylor thru his head coach. Also, apparently Posu fans consider Taylor to be a hot head and a thug... now that's rich,a buckeye fan calling another programs kid a thug!

Have full faith in Taylor. Hope he tells Urban to shove it.
