Basically, Oregon, Cal, etc. are now trying to pull the "oh we need a big man too!!!" card on him. We'll see what happens here. Next 10 days might be a whirlwind..... this recruiting class could end up top 5 or fall apart. Cross your fingers.

Nah man, they would have done that a long time ago if that were the case. The USC docs are overly protective bro. They wouldn't clear Jarvis Jones a couple of years ago, despite everyone begging them to, so he went to Georgia and was voted an All-American by some publication last week. Dude is a complete stud/possible first rounder, and they still wouldn't clear him...

I kind of respect USC's doctors for being overly protective...

If Arik does in fact decide to come to ND, any chances of his brother wanting to transfer and follow him to ND?

If USC's doctors didn't clear him to play, there is no way in hell that ND's will.

Serious question:
What is more important to USC this year, a recruit like Arik or freeing up scholarship space?

That is not the case. Had they cleared him to play, Armond would have been a senior and a high draft pick where his scholarship would have been freed up anyways. USC doctors have done this in the past to really talented players.

Lets just hope he lands in South Bend and Kelly persuades him to play OT.

I think if we land Arik and someone is to switch to OL it's Jarron.

NDinLA what are you hearing about NDs chances?

I like our chances much less than most (esp Lax). I mean, ND definitely has a good shot here, but I just don't see it happening personally. Hope I'm wrong of course, and Lax can shove it in my face LOL.

As for his recruitment right now, he's taking a visit to Cal this weekend. He got an in-home from USC a couple of nights ago, and while it didn't hurt USC's chances, it also didn't help them either because the situation with his brother is still the same. So USC is still in it per se, but as long as his brother isn't cleared, it's 99% sure Arik won't be at USC. Per Rivals...

I think he is Cal's to lose at this point.

Haha yee of little faith.... just like how you said we had no chance with Payton and we are now squarely in his top 2. PM coming at you in a sec to explain my optimism. I put our shot with Armstead squarely at 50/50 with the odds getting worse every day that passes.

(To be fair, I also thought we had no chance at Payton and I still think he ends up at Cal).

Shaq, Treggs, Adams, and Payton are all going to Cal this weekend for their visits and it looks like Armstead could be joining them.

Not cool.

I don't get the draw of Cal... even if they got all of these guys I don't see them winning the division.

Don't know either. They graduate a little more than half of there football players and they are medicore on the field. At least when we are medicore we still graduate our players.

Fans at other schools say this about us all the time (not the division, obviously, but winning in general). Cal has produced a lot of NFL caliber talent recently and it is a fantastic school. They might not be the best team in the Pac12 but they played some close games with the top teams in the conference. Idk... I think Cal is a pretty legitimate consideration.

A lot of the players that end up at Cal are doing quite well in the NFL. You can argue that they have been RB U for the last 10 years. They have a first round draft pick nearly every year and the school is the top public institution in America. NorCal kids can stay home in warm weather so their families can go to all of their games in person. The longest travel would probably be Utah now that they are in the Pac12 and it is not that far. What I don't get is how that Tedford has a job still. He blows.
