And if you looked at ND and Syracuse's enrollment for next year you would see the same. Any kid doing early enrollment only has a limited time to enroll and each school has different deadlines. What the majority of kids like Ishaq do is just enroll at all the schools they are considering that way when they make the decision they are ready. Keep in mind, with him deciding at the AA Bowl, he will only have less than a week to pack up and get to classes. This technically means nothing in the grand scheme of things.....

Now as for your hunch, you might be right but I see it being Syracuse, program is on the upswing a little, he can play immediately and can still drive home in 4-5 hours. I hope he picks ND but my gut tells me ND is the pawn here to get the publicity, Syracuse will be the winner........

I really hope he picks Notre Dame, but I have a sick feeling he won't. This is a guy we really need. You can't really blame the kid if he chooses Syracuse though. It is where his parents went to school and their program is on the upswing as well. Being close to home is probably a BIG factor for this kid.

I don't have a strong feeling how this will end up and certainly don't have any inside info.

One thing that may be in Syracuse's favor is that besides being a SU alum Marrone is a NYC guy.

I am from near Syracuse originally and he has said all along that SU was his dream job. While he was coaching elsewhere (incl. as OC for the Saints) he continued to hold high school camps and coaching clinics in the NY and Long Island area. He has made recruiting all of NY State including the City a top priority. I don't know how long term his relationship with Ishaq has been but this may be a real factor in his decision.

On a whole, SU is not in the same academic upper echelon as ND but it is a top 50 school academically in most ratings and some of its programs (Newhouse School of Public Communications and Maxwell School of Public Affairs) are consistently top 5 in the country.

I pray he doesn't pick PoSU.

He seems like a great kid from a great family. He clearly is going to help whichever team he chooses. I hope he is Irish - I think there is the potential for a lot more football upside here in the time he will be in school than there is in Upstate NY.

Whatever his choice - I wish him the best of luck as we all should.

But c'mon Ishaq, GO IRISH!

Are you sure about this because it really doesn't make any sense? You can't enroll at multiple institutions. You can apply for early admission at multiple schools, but that is not the same as enrollment. You wouldn't put the kid on the online directory unless he had actually enrolled at the school. Unfortunately, I think that means PSU is his choice. Of course, I hope to be wrong. Go Irish! Beat Canes!

I have seen Counsell play in the Shrine Bowl and Rabasa had a nationally televised game on ESPNU against Teddy Bridgewater's highschool team.

Counsell looks to be very quick and very football smart. He is very good in coverage and has a knack for where the football is going and filling that gap.

Rabasa is one of my favorite players in this class and underrated in my mind. He has the speed to get around the corner but the power to bull rush.

Ta other thing - Anyone see Grace play? He is tearing people up. He is going to be dynamite. Massively so. The only reason I could think of that Williams wouldn’t come to ND, is he is not convinced that he could beat out the competition, or he doesn’t know that Diaco is the kind of coaching genius that he needs to turn himself into a future first round draft choice!

Neither is true, so I am feeling good, so good! GO IRISH! Téigh Gaeilge! Ciceáil na asses chiontaíonn!

Actually you can enroll in as many colleges as you want, there is no rule or law against it. And Ishaq doesn't strike me as the kind of kid to use ND as a pawn for publicity.

IShaq has to register to every school because he is an early enrollee. Like i said before state school give out e-mail address, passwords and student ID's to anyone who applies.

All I have to say is he can choose Syracuse and play games against college powerhouses, Colgate and Maine NOT on TV or you can play teams like USC on NBC, UMiami at Chicago Coliseaum, ASU at Dallas Cowboy Stadium. Choice is pretty clear if you want to see Big Time college football.

ND is headed to the BCS in the next few years!!

Yeah this could be a circus. Lol watch, he'll come out wearing a ND Jersey, and Syracuse hat with one of those weird Joe-Pa masks. Btw...does anyone else find them some what creepy, the Joe-Pa masks? If I walked into ND stadium and saw 80,000 fans wearing Brian Kelly masks I think I'd be pretty weird-ed out.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see him playing the stupid game most kids play: reach for one hat, then another, then pull the magic hat from behind him and put it on his head.

Ishaq has impressed reporters and analysts from ISD. They said he has been the more impressive DE on the East squad. That's impressive because the East squad has Ray Drew and Aaron Lynch.

His dad wore an Irish hat for the second day in a row.

Decision time is coming real soon, and I just don't think these are the kind of people to try to mislead anyone. They seem classy and not the kind of people to try to take an ego trip on the recruitment thing and try to play with people who are interested.

Things are looking good.

The profile of him on the PSU online directory is now much more detailed. I think that he is going there. End of story. We should stop getting our hopes up.

I'm standing by my initial assessment of the situation (from a week ago). Your name doesn't get on the student directory unless you are going there. I'll be pleasantly shocked if I'm wrong.

Not trying to be facetious, i'm honestly interesting in knowing how one's name gets in the directory? Does the student put it there? Does the school? When in the process does one's name enter the directory, after acceptance to the university? Do they wait until they schedule classes?

If it is put in once a student has enrolled in classes, then I get your point. If all accepted students are entered into the directory, then I think this is meaningless.

Please elaborate.

Honestly, I have no clue. There is a guy on DD who says that all accepted students at PSU get in the directory. I have no basis to dispute the guy, but it seems strange to me that they would create such administrative inefficiency.

My conclusion is based solely upon the implication that he is in one directory (in great detail), and not in the other two.

In CA, State school's will put you in the directory just for applying.
