Saw it, though we can get a whole list on here eventually. Feel free to discuss and bitch and moan and whatever you want.

Rivals explains that: "This is part of our countdown of the top 100 players in college football. “Top” doesn’t necessarily mean the most pro potential, or even the most talent. It’s what the player has accomplished and how we think the player will do this season. But production does trump potential."

Bold is ND player
Italics is ND opponent.

Rivals says about Clausen:

Clausen had the most prolific season of any sophomore quarterback in school history last season by throwing for 3,172 yards and 25 touchdowns. Clausen’s struggles on the road keep him from ranking higher, but he showed signs of turning the corner by throwing for 401 yards and five touchdowns in a Hawaii Bowl blowout of Hawaii. Clausen throws to one of the nation’s top receiving corps, which could help him emerge as a Heisman Trophy contender.

"Clausen had the most prolific season as a sophmore quearterback in school history" yet there are still alot of people who hate him and want him benched and think he sucks because he hasnt won a Heisman yet, but so is the life of a TRUE SOPHMORE at Notre Dame. I think that 95 is a pretty good ranking based on his career so far. Hopefully he will shoot up this list by the end ofthe year.

95. - Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen

I don't know what the stats/accomplishments of the 94 ahead of him are but based upon his achievements AND ranking as a QB this is actually high.

He finished as the #34 QB in the '08 NCAA QB Eff. Stats

Various preseason QB rankings have him anywhere from just inside the Top 10 to down around 25. Lindy's had him at #23 (and they had Kaepernick, who finished right behind Jimmy at #35 in NCAA QB Eff. Stats, at #17). Say Jimmy is in the middle of that 10-23 range. That would put him at say 17. How many players ranked 17th at their position make the Top 100?

Wherever he is preseason he'll be ranked a lot better at the end of the season.

Rivals about Floyd:

Alabama’s Julio Jones and Georgia’s A.J. Green earned more attention, but Floyd may have been as good as any freshman receiver in the nation last season. Floyd caught 48 passes for 719 yards and seven touchdowns to set school freshman records in all three categories. He missed two full games and most of a third with a knee injury. He and Golden Tate form one of the nation’s best receiving duos.

Floyd would be a lot higher if there wasn't so much hatred towards ND. He actually would have had better stats than Jones and Green if he hadn't been injured and forced to miss three games.

Also, Sean Lee at 99 is ridiculous. I know he sat out last year with an injury, but he is still one of the best linebackers in the country.

yeah Sean Lee was way low IMO, but considering what they have done so far i think 95 and 93 are fair rankings

Personally I believe Floyd should be ranked higher, but I am biased.

No. 89: Nevada QB Colin Kaepernick

<HR SIZE=1>THE PARTICULARS: 6-6/215, Jr.; Turlock (Calif.) Pittman

Kaepernick accounted for 39 TDs last season – 22 in the air and 17 on the ground. He threw for 2,849 yards and ran for 1,130, and he had four 100-yard rushing games and three 250-yard passing games. In his two seasons, Kaepernick – who isn’t necessarily a blazer but has long strides and picks up chunks of yardage – has thrown for 5,024 yards and 41 TDs (against just 10 interceptions) and run for 1,723 yards and 23 scores.

6-6, 215 and runs for 1700 yds.

We could use a Rodney Peete like de-cleater early in the game.

Not exactly. Our secondary is ridiculous, so we could put 7 or 8 in the box.

Still waiting for Golden Tate to make the Top 50.

They also have two 1000 yd RBs.

" ... so we could put 7 or 8 in the box"

With three 1000 yd rushers in the backfield????

Is that how you get the Pistol to misfire?

I'll still take a Frank "Yo, can you hear me. How many fingers can you see" Stams hit.

81 - 79 update, it's good to see Tim Hiller get some respect.

I've not seen him play. Does he deserve that much respect over Clausen and Kaepernick among others?

He has proven himself well. He has done a lot with little at Western. He has the size and the arm strength definitely. He was top ten in passing last year, low amount of INT's, high yardage and high TD's. Playing in the MAC doesn't get you a lot of respect. But he and LeFevour from Central deserve some respect. More respect than Jimmy C right now just because Clausen's INT's are so high right now. After a couple of games Jimmy C will deserve more respect most definitely.

And Hiller might rip Michigan a new one before Clausen does. Western is Michigan's home opener.

I want to face a demoralized, confused Michigan team reeling from an opening day upset loss to a lowly Western Michigan squad. I'll be rooting for Hiller and company on September 5th.
