At least maybe his ranking won't go to his head (Omar Hunter...I'm looking at you!)

That is a big disparity between the two sites. I understand they have him at different positions but still, What gives?

Rivals now has him as 3 Star, #57 OT with a 5.7 Rating previously he was unranked.
Scout has him as 4 Star, #1 OG
ESPN has him on their 150 WatchList

Lombard's got some fine offers including UNC, where Hurst committed, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska. He had a bunch of early offers as a Junior camping at Michigan and ND but he verballed very early to ND way back on January 3, 2009. He hasn't been out on the camp or combine circuit generating ink.

Lombard HS All-American

Lombard HS All-American

Sporting News College Football '09 selected ND verbal Christian Lombard as one of the 5 OLs on their HS All-America Team.

The other OLs are Henderson, Irwin, Kohler, and Hopkins.

For everyone who has DirecTV. Christian Lombard was on The Lemming Report on CBS College Sports Network.

He looks like a good kid and talked about how Notre Dame just felt right and the players and coaches are genuione people. It was nice to see him getting some love. He is often forgotten in this class and extremely underrated

I am really skeptical of this kid. At the US army bowl last year, he was getting dominated 1v1. I don't know how everyone is raving about him. The only recruit that I really don't care about in this class.

I read somewhere, I think it was Tom Lemming, that he was out performing all Offensive linemen in the midwest... including henderson... I think he is the real deal.

Commit early -particularly to ND and there is little to write about - ratings tend to downtrend - they did the same to Chris martin. He's great.

I don't mean to be the turd in the punchbowl, but Lemming has never shied away from hyping Chicago area prospects. Add to that the fact that he is an ND commit, and I'm taking Lemming's evaluation with a grain of salt. This is not to say that I think he's not good, just that I look with a certain skepticism at this eval. On the other hand, he has a decent offer list for someone so solidly ND so early. Let's hope Lemming proves me wrong on this one.

I've been watching him for three years, and I saw him play last night. Rivals needs to get off their horse and give the kid a fourth star. We'll see how he does in San Antonio for a week against the cream of the crop, but I'm more concerned with what Frank Verducci is going to make this guy into. Lombard has the size, he's smart and he works his ass off to prove he deserves the accolades he is receiving.

People are talking about him winning Mr. Football in Illinois this year, over guys like Kyle Prater. This would be the equivalent of Orlando Pace winning the Heisman.

He played both offense and defense the entire game last night. They run to his side on the big plays, as they have been doing all year, and he occupied 2-3 blockers when he was at DT. Fremd's running back Evan Wright is getting a ton of accolades for the yards and TDs he has been accumulating all year, and Wright will be the first to tell anyone Lombard is the reason.

There was a play last night where, as a DT, he was double teamed and grabbed the running back on Naperville North with his right arm and slammed him to the ground for no gain. It was one of the most impressive plays I've seen at a high school game in a while.

I don't think he's a five star, I don't think he's a three. A solid four. They gave four stars to Patrick Ward and Michael Schofield last year, and there is no way Lombard isn't as good or better as they were/are.

Thanks jigga. Everything I have read about the kid says he's having a monster year, and his team's running attack is powerful thanks in large part to Lombard. Too bad you don't see him as a 5 star talent but at least you're being real about it, and with his work ethic and talent he could very make himself into an elite player down the road. I can't wait to see him starting for ND 2-3 years from now...

Saw him up close last weekend when Fremd beat Lake park 21-14. The kid is huge. I was standing in the north end zone at Conant HS where the game was, mere feet from Lombard. You really don't appreciate his size until you get to see him up close. He's massive.
