I wish I wasn't so busy. Then I'd be around to drop the hammer on some idiocy...

Big effing deal how the Lynch 'deal' went down! Did you see how the Te'o 'deal' went down? How about the Michael Floyd deal? How about the Dayne Crist deal? How about the Golden tate deal? The Chris Watt deal? What about the Armando Allen deal? The Tai'ler Jones deal? Need I go on?

See, if you base all of the Irish recruiting based on the insane Aaron lynch saga, then we'd NEVER have any recruits other than guys like Daniel Smith who have bled Irish since birth.

But thankfully, the Irish coaches haven't thought like you and we've landed some quality recruits. The way you speak with such finality over things you know nothing about is ridiculous. Suggins didn't make the game but made a point to sit down with his family to watch it. Shuler didn't make the game but made it a point to sit down with his dad to watch it and was impressed.

And guess what? EVERY school has decommitments, even the mighty Trogans and the Florida criminals of Urban Liar. You think they cry in their milk, or do you think they just go out and get the next stud to commit?

When you say blanket statements based on zero facts like you did about Huggins and Shuler, expect a backlash from posters. This backlash was actually milder than I thought it would be...
I was waiting for something like this!

Has he said anything since the Army game? I thought there would be a lot of chatter after the game from recruits but I haven't seen anything from those that attended.

As far as I know there hasn't been anything new to report that has been positive. Mostly just the decommitment of Hayes. Most things have been seemingly hush-hush. Although there are some rumors about bright things happening.

I felt this past weekend was our best chance to really convince Ishaq and Savon that ND is the right place for them...maybe the silence is a good thing at this point.

Savon was not at the game and Ishaq will be visiting in December. We really werent expecting a commitment from either of them after this past weekend. The silence is expected.

BOOM... THERE IT IS!!! Truthfully, most recruits don't think that way anymore... in the age of "Sense of entitlement" that most of this country suffers from everyday, this kid is becoming more rare.

maybe that's because few recruits are actual die hard fans of a school. The ones that usually are don't get offered to begin with. I am certain that back in your day everyone was 100% honest and honorable

Not exactly, but "back in my day" which I am 31 so would have been the late 90s recruiting wasn't as Main stream. So there was no real incentive to flip flop or have a table with hats so you could become a celebrity by putting on one schools hat, then taking it off to grab another one. To deny that there is a greater sense of entitlement in sports now than there used to be is naive.

True, there may be something to that but like you said. There wasnt that focus on recruiting so when players did flip flop you didnt hear about it either. Plus with all the news in the world available at your fingertips now a days you are also exposed to so much more stuff that you would have never heard of even 20 years ago.

The Brian Smiths and Daniel Smiths are rare in the world. Most kids are not die hard fans. The school wants them, so they have to work for their services. Even when they do commit you have to stay on them because they are kids and they are impressionable.

I don't know what happened to Prestwood

Lynch clearly bought into all the negative recruiting

Hayes was a Michigan fan growing up

Burton wanted to play with his brother, can you blame him?

I personally feel, when a University, spends time and money recruiting you, and you accept official visits and all of the fan fare that comes with that. You parade and "pretend" to be all for one team, rah rah Bull****. Then flip flop I have to question your integrity. Every recruit that changes his commitment has their own reasons and we will never know the whole story or their personal agenda. I am a Business man, and when I give a Client or Employee my word, I obligated to stick to it, because if you don't.....what else do you have as a person? Just my own personal opinion of course.

i agree but you are also a man, your word is all you have. Many of these kids ahve not learned that yet. and honestly there are a lot of "men" who have yet to learn that.

I will say that no one bashes Louis Nix, TJ Jones, Brian Smith, Luke Massa, Tate Nichols, Jonas Gray, or Trevor Robinson. Odds are we will get someone to flip this year too.

THIS!!!!!!^^

I say again...I have never heard anyone on this site criticize a Notre Dame recruit who was a decommit from another program.

Anyone care to take up this argument? I'd love to have that conversation.

I wouldn't count on it. I brought it up about a month ago, and pretty much everyone shut up.

It remains conspicuously silent, doesn't it?

The only recruit I blamed was lynch. And only then because he was our biggest cheerleader and then decommitted on the worst day possible. If he'd kept quiet about it until the bye week, I would've said godspeed to him.

I'm not sure why you are so eager for an argument, but perhaps you could create a thread for the topic. I for the record agree with you that there is a double standard, but if you are as insightful as you seem to think you are you'll realize this is human/fan nature.

Watching the Louisville @ Rutgers game that is on right now, I have no idea how an elite prospect would ever go to that school. Half full stadium on senior day... getting thumped by Louisville... middle of the pack team in the worst conference in America...

I think we've got a very good shot here.

I would normally agree...what has me concerned are the programs that are coming out of the wood work now expressing interest.

Not to mention they have 2 redshirt RB on their roster.

Rutgers goes to show that if you have two ELITE players (Ray Rice and Leonard) in a weak conference, you can kill teams, get a nice rating, and pull in a few recruits you never really shold get.

Unfortunately for Rutgars, that was five years ago?
