You must be a pretty damn good basketball player then.
Does Colt McCoy suck? Compare his numbers as a sophomore to Jimmy's and get back to me. QB is the toughest position in sports, and it takes time and experience to become a good QB. Mark Sanchez is about to be a 1st round draft pick, and his 2nd year in college he never even sniffed the field. His THIRD year in college he only played when Booty got hurt, and he threw a pick that might have cost his school a NC.
Meanwhile, JC had an up and down year, but showed the promise that made him a 5 star. He makes throws that few in college can make. He had ZERO running game to help him out, and a bad O-Line. Yet he still had games that had you thinking future Heisman. And he had his stinkers, which is what sophmore QB's with no running game and a bad line are wont to do.
Your best line is that Floyd is 'doing his job'. Yeah, that's just a bit of an understatement. He was a freshman that obliterated the ND record books, but to you, he simply 'did his job'.
As for your statement that you'd rather have a 3* than a 5*, well, you just obviously don't know the recruiting game at all. It's a matter of percentages, of numbers. No, not all 5 stars pan out. BUt you want to stack your team with as many 5 stars and 4 stars as possible. The numbers say that waaaaaay more 5 stars turn out to be all-americans than 3stars. Yes, there are 3 stars that turn out to be studs, and we all love those kids, but the numbers are not in their favor. If you're building a team around a bunch of 3 stars, then you're not going to have a job for very long. There's a reason FL, USC, Ohio State, and LSU are consistently good, and it's not because they go out looking for 3 stars...
