Various measurements around my house are in the 8.5" to 10" range in Westfield. Lots of drifting.

What kind of snowblower does everyone recommend? I've made due with an electric snowblower for the last 10 years. The batteries aren't what they once were and this snow storm about did it in. Ended up recruiting shovelers and my neighbor's snowblower to finish off the end of the driveway. Just looked outside and I'm plowed in again. SMH.

I grew up in northwest Indiana. The amount of snow we got in Indy doesn't bother me. It's the fact that no one is ever prepared for it. Everything is shit around here right now.

We ended up with 9-10 SE Indy. Going out in a little bit to clear it one more time. Should go through it quickly today.

I have a Troy Bilt 26” with an electric start. I’ve had it for about 7-8 years and it has fired up right away. Even after winters where I didn’t have to use it. Bought it in the spring when Lowe’s had them marked down. Haggled with the manager and got another $100 off. Put it on the Lowe’s charge for another 5%. Ended up saving close to $300 over the regular price. Turned around and paid the charge card a couple of days later.

Pretty close. Most of the time it's fluffy but sometimes it can be pretty wet and heavy. (That's what she said)

It got cold out last night! 47 degrees! Watched the playoff games in my backyard on the 75”. Like the broncos game it started at 67 and by the end of the rams game it was almost 50! Only going to get to mid 60’s today here in Palos Verdes CA.
Pray for me. Have my generator ready and hunkering down.

Been the snowiest winter I can remember in some years in Southeast MI. Probably a solid 18 inches accumulated in the yard rn. Another 5 yesterday. I actually do enjoy shoveling the snow compared to other chores, good exercise in the middle of winter.

Plus, it gets me out of doing other shit.

"Honey, can you come help me with the laundry?"

"Aw shucks I sure would love to, but I really need to get out there and shovel the doggone driveway and sidewalk. Mailman coming any minute."

Made it home with a slow and steady drive on the highway. Encountered many people who did not have the same luck as us traveling home, and we even had a pick up lose control while passing us and slide across all 3 lanes on the highway less than 100 feet in front of us before hitting the snow embankment.

Take it easy yall. Glad to be home and safe with the family. Another day in from work.

My furnace went out last night. I managed to get it running again, but it shut back off about 5-6 hours later. Reset and running again when I left for work. Hopefully I can get it fixed this afternoon when I get back. It’s likely just a dirty sensor or something.

I live in a TH but have a 4wd truck. Never bought a shovel-all that stuff was left at the Exes home.

I never have a problem getting in/out of my garage/drive/neighborhood, and I just wait for the snow/ice to melt. The cold isn't letting up here in NoVa. So the other day, I stopped at a big box store to ask the impossible: Any shovels or ice melt? The guy that I asked, an older gentleman, about my age, advised, "No, we do not have any. However, we do have hoes."

I looked at him, understood he was talking about garden hoes, yet after a few awkward seconds, I said, "But does she shovel?"

We were both laughing our asses off. Good times.

I’ve been skiing at Jay Peak, VT the last couple days. They closed all of the upper mountain lifts yesterday, including the tram, because the windchill was -45! Had to ski Burke instead.

I’ve seen wind holds for lifts before. Never just a straight up cancellation for temperature. Crazy cold up this way.

Northeast Kingdom is beautiful! Never experienced it with -45 wind chill however.

When I lived in the South, 20s and 30s felt brutal because of the damp air, which transfers heat MUCH better than dry air. I remember seeing people skiing in shorts and t-shirts in videos or commercials and wondering how that was even possible. Then I moved to the Upper Midwest and the Mountains, and understood. When I lived in The Black Hills, it might be 20, but it was so dry that you could walk around outside for 20 minutes in a t-shirt and not feel cold. OTOH, when it gets into the negative temps, that's just cold no matter what. I saw -22 in ND a few weeks ago. Coldest I ever saw was -37 in western Minnesota several years ago. That just hurt.

It was -18 air temp in central Ohio when I woke up this morning. Now up to 15, nothing like a 33 degree warm up to not even get into the 20s.
