The Steelers angle had a lot more legs than most of the NFL rumors. Rossini reported on it awhile ago that they had "internal discussions" about him being the Tomlin successor. That was mirrored by a lot of other rumors.

If the Steelers hired Marcus Freeman I genuinely would expect empty seats by about Week 8 if they suck (which they almost certainly will). The perception would be that ownership values social engineering more than running a winning franchise.

What do you mean by social engineering?
You know exactly what he means.

Look, of COURSE Freeman is going to draw interest from the NFL. He's an impressive person and a hell of a football coach. And that interest will get talked about, because Notre Dame draws eyeballs. And unlike, say, the Giants, the Steelers are one of the few NFL jobs good and stable enough that he wouldn't be making an obviously dumb move to take it.

But given what has transpired in the last 48 hours, on top of signing an elite recruiting class, and the recent extension, and not for nothing the way Notre Dame immediately jumped in for him on the "battery" nonsense, no, he is not leaving this week for a job that opened this afternoon.

The Steelers would be a better job than the giants but I hope Freeman at least sees this season out with ND. My bigger fear would be Ryan Day getting the job and him jumping to OSU in 2027.

Not a single mention of Freeman as “other known candidates” for any of the 9 open jobs.
Schefters tweet yesterday was pretty clearly a message from Marcus's agent that hes not going anywhere this year. We ride

Internal discussions is so vague. It could have been as passing as "Boy, that Marcus Freeman is a helluva guy!"
Exactly. It's all bullshit.

More often than not, their agents spread the gossip themselves and the franchises leak fabrications too. You're talking about a society with the IQs of a grapefruit and the attention spans of gnats, and a news cycle that is instantaneous due to phones and social media. They're going to do whatever possible to hold people attention for as long as they possibly can.

And does she really think they had internal discussions on just Freeman? The “internal discussions” was probably a list of candidates they would consider.

It's just as likely that its a recycled quote she's resurfacing without saying it to drive engagement. It's getting hard to distinguish between real reporters and rage bait grifters on Twitter.

Agreed. I got off Twitter a while ago. Then once all the adults who were in charge left it was pure shit show at the fuck factory time. No thanks.

"Hey, Freeman said he's off the board, right?"
"Yeah."

Reports on Social Media: "Teams are still considering Marcus Freeman and ignoring his statement about staying at Notre Dame."

Adults were never in charge.
My feed became filled with porn bots and right wing bro shit. Two things I never had nor will have interest in. I found it slightly peculiar, so I left the app.

I used it strictly to follow sports. My algorithm turned into explosive ass piss. I didn't stay long enough to investigate or ask questions.

I actually don't know, and I didn't want to assume. N. Dakota is an attorney who, a couple years ago, had issues (real or performative) understanding the importance of intent when a crime is alleged. That's not a knock, he isn't a criminal/trial lawyer (neither am I, but I have much experience applying legal standards of intent in matters which could rise to a level of criminality). So, I'm curious if he even knows what he's talking about because he isn't even coding it properly.

The term social engineering has a pretty specific definition and I'm wondering how the Steelers are scamming to steal information. If he is talking about being progressive on issues of race... Then apparently, he's a Steelers fan who, does not know the Steelers had the first black starting QB or that the NFL rule requiring teams to interview a minority candidate was named the "Rooney Rule" for a reason, is being disingenuous (my bet), or is stupid.
