I don't think a program with any self-respect can let a coach who is leaving for a peer job at a rival (i.e., not a coordinator leaving for a HC job somewhere) continue to coach through the playoffs. I don't know why Saban and co. are saying Ole Miss should have agreed to that, other than the implication that they should accept that because they are a "lesser program" they should swallow their pride on this point? Why would they do that?

The man is as genuine as a three dollar bill.

When I think of Lane Kiffin, Aesop's fable of The Serpent and the Farmer comes to mind.
I don't blame him here. He prob genuinely struggled with the decision, but knows he can get players and go to the next level there. It's just a flat out better gig than Ole Miss. He'll have the night crowd at Death Valley behind him and prob have that place humming.

Perhaps. But how can anyone at LSU, when he talks about commitment or buyin or anything else about character, believe him? Part of what makes Freeman effective is that he lives what he preaches. That matters when it comes to culture of a program. Lane spent years trying to get back what he lost when dealing with everything at UT, Raiders, etc. It all evaporated instantly.

LSU is maybe the truest definition of a "football factory" there is, the whole school and the state government are corrupt to the very marrow. They care about nothing but winning and to be honest, I think some of the more self aware LSU fans foresee this crashing and burning but they're hoping to squeeze a title out of it before Lane gets caught with his Joey in the Freshwater of a booster's daughter or some connected coed.

Congrats my dude☘️
Thanks my man. We’ll see. Obviously, I’m excited and think he’s a really, really good coach. Winning at OM is no easy feat … it’s like winning at Purdue, it’s tough to do.

That said, I wasn’t one of the “all in” or “Kiffin or bust” fans. But, still very happy with the hire and to officially rid ourselves from the stain that is Kelly.

I disagree. He took a better job. That's all it is. He earned a position where the top programs all wanted him and he took it. These colleges are all doing whatever it takes and will leave him on the tarmac if he doesn't succeed. He chose what he thinks is best for him and his family. I thought he might hold out for Bama, but it is what it is. I don't blame him.

I think you got a good one bro. Fun weekends are ahead for you and I’m happy for you… only you😂

But in all seriousness, congrats pal! This will change a lot of recruits’ decisions on LSU as good days are ahead.

If, for some reason, DeBoer is fired or decides to move on after 2026, does anyone really think Kiffin wouldn't leave for Bama after only one year at LSU?

I don't blame Lane for taking a swimming pool full of money and moving up to a place where he has a shot at winning a NC, and can't blame LSU for hiring him and hoping for the best, despite his history. LSU thinks they're a destination job... and they are for the most part. But yeah, if DeBoer leaves at some point, they'll likely call Ole Miss and tearfully say, "I just can't believe he did it to us too!"

I dont blame him. I just think people that used to see his antics as cute will now look at him differently. Its not that he left, its how he left.

To be fair to Kiffin- Did he put this deadline and push to resolve this in place or did Ole Miss? He could have sat on his cards until they lost the CFP and then announced. He was pushed into the moment and it blew up in Ole Miss' face.
