The reporting I've heard, from John Brice and Pete Sampson, is that the series will likely continue but that we would likely play them earlier in the year.

Be crazy If NBC could give us another intro like this for our last known meeting with the best out of conference rivalry In sports history.

I’d say give them zero,… they play us in south bend later in the year or make them own ending the series.

Is the weather report that it is only going to rain when we're on offense?

I’ve been sort of watching the weathers as the weeks gone on (and theoretically has gotten more accurate), but it does seem to be shifting later and later and diminishing. Here’s hoping that continues.

Starting to piece together a gameplan for the weekend, don’t really want to get rained on until I absolutely have to so I think I’m gonna do some drinking at some fine local dive bars in South Bend before heading over to campus a couple hours before the game. Anyone wanna meet up and discuss who we’d convert into a DT?

Someone get this man some Jameson and bring him to your tailgate, I vouch for him! Just don't grab Waffle House after a game in enemy territory...shouldn't be a problem this weekend.

Hour by hour has thunderstorms at 7 and 8pm and then heavy rain the rest of the night. Looks like we need to prepare for a Clemson 2015 type game.

Not sure if it's was discussed elsewhere but I just watch Freeman on Dan Patrick's show. Who pissed in Patrick's Cheerios? Spent half the interview asking Freeman about Ohio State and why he chose them over us as a high schooler and went in on the "ND needs USC more than the other way around" bullshit.

3/4 of the best placed are on SC to cover, yet the spread is still -9.5. 🤔

I will say, this week has made me hate USC in a way I haven't since PC went to Seattle. In the way that Kirby Smart is sort of the Ur-UGA fan/alum, Cowherd really is the archetypal USC homer: just saying whatever inane bullshit comes to your mind with full confidence like Leinart is still handing the ball to Bush. They've all taken up the "ND needs USC, we're too good for this rivalry" talking point.

Cold and rainy in South Bend? Give me the Marcus Freeman led team with the nation's two best running backs over the Lincoln Riley led team by 14-20, somewhere in that range.

I love how they wave “conference games” around as if 90% of their conference isn’t total dogshit.
“You don’t get it, we have to play conference games before we play ND!”
Which is dumb because A) last I checked all of our opponents also belong to conferences
B) a loss to ND doesn’t matter to their precious conference standings
C) those games include shit like Minnesota, Rutgers, Purdue, UCLA, Iowa, etc.
Even those shit teams bite back

Because of the travel I am sure.

USC under Riley just is a different team on the road. This year they already lost to a mediocre Illinois team and had a poor showing at Purdue who we murdered.

In 2024 USC was 1-4 in true away games, including losses at Maryland, Minnesota, Washington. Only win was a dog shit UCLA team by under a touchdown.

In 2023 USC was 3-2 in true away games, including a 14pt win over a 3-9 Arizona State team and one score wins against 4-8 Colorado and 6-7 Cal.

NGL I'd feel a lot better about a rainy ground-and-pound game if we had Rubio and Craig healthy and had shown any ability to convert on short-yardage this season.

USC's OL is quite banged up. Even without Rubio, I like the Irish's ability to stop the run.

That’s what makes it hard to get a grasp of this matchup. How bad is Meatchicken’s run D? Usually, it’s pretty damn good but SC ran all over them with 2 OL out & a 3rd string walk on (albeit talented) RB.

That's my feeling. This is probably why he's winding down into retirement as he's lost popularity/ratings, he wants controversy to try and create drama. He's said himself that declining ratings don't matter, they're going for viral moments on social media (Which may have some truth, but feels like a cover for the lost ratings).

Another student pointed to the cost of drinks as a sticking point. Compared to the drinks inside the stadium, drinks at the tailgates outside the stadium have one thing going for them – they’re free.

I think Michigan is a decent team with a decent to good defense but they can’t play complimentary football at all as their offense is nonexistent basically. I’m not entirely sure how Michigan was even ranked to begin with.

I think SC has success on the ground for one reason…opposing D focus on containing the Air Raid passing attack. Didn’t they have some success on the ground vs ND last season before Woody went out w/ injury? Regardless, that’s why I suspect Meatchicken had so many issues. Maiava gets rid of the ball too quickly (ala Carson Beck) to get any real pressure on him so he rarely, if ever; gets sacked. If your offense gets behind (like scUM’s did), Riley has you where he wants you and can mix in some explosive run plays. That’s why it will be key for ND to be able to match SCum score for score if it becomes a shootout. If the weather is decent, I love ND’s advantage in the downfield pass game vs SC’s secondary. Wind adversely affects that & it could get ugly if forced. ND’s run game is not good on plays where everyone knows they’re running. That’s not the mark of a truly good OL regardless of how many in the box & regardless of the elite RB in the backfield.
