GREAT view of the “no look” TD pass from Carr
Rairdon was also open behind him but Carr showed smarts knowing he would have dropped it.
100% agree with you about the grounding penalties being CJ's error. Blaming the coordinators for everything is the easy way out, players need to be held accountable. It was 100% a cj error
Not giving up on this year by any means, but IF he stays healthy and keeps progressing then he is going to be a complete stud by next year.100% agree with you about the grounding penalties being CJ's error. Overall I was impressed with Carr, some posters seem to forget that he is a freshman on the field & is going to make mistakes. Carr is going to be damn good for ND.
The answer is, take the sack. Avoid possible fumbles and intsWhat was he supposed to do on those grounding plays. He is probably lucky the second one wasn’t a pick but the first one what was he supposed to do?
We've complained about QBs not doing just that. The first one I think all he had to do was get it closer to a WR but still way out of reach and it was otherwise the right play. The answer is, take the sack. Avoid possible fumbles and ints
Yes. Make sure it is past the line of scrimmage. We've complained about QBs not doing just that. The first one I think all he had to do was get it closer to a WR but still way out of reach and it was otherwise the right play.
IMO it shouldn't have been called in the first place. It was 100% a cj error
My only concern is that I don't want to see him run that much. He's not RL and I worry about wear and tear and worse, a season-ending injury (one time, he led with head down into tackler - Not a good idea). I like that he is tough and can run those keepers when needed but not so sure how effective he's gonna be on a QB sneak up the middle for short yards vs. rolling out of the pocket w/ option to keep it (again, he's not as big and overpowering as RL). And hey, the kid can sling the ball so that's what I want to see. We really don't want to see CJ as the top game rusher with ND's stable of top RBs.
Based on week 1, seems pretty straightforward. Let's see where the rest of the season takes usI’d actually take Carr over the over hyped Arch Manning.
On what now?It might’ve been asked and/or answered, but I’m curious what his stats look like on non-screen plays
Same vein: I want to see the advanced stats for all passing plays. Air yards/average depth of target? They had to have been abysmal. It might’ve been asked and/or answered, but I’m curious what his stats look like on non-screen plays
Agree. But cj has to be smarter than to throw that against a press cb. My hs qb knows that…IMO it shouldn't have been called in the first place.
How many of those passes were dropped? For QBs that threw at least 5 passes behind the LOS, Carr ranked 25th in terms of what % of his attempts were that. It’s not what you want long term but I think folks are a little over blowing it given it was the first start in the rain on the road. 28% of attempts is less than Nussmeier against Clemson. It’s less than Marcel Reed, less than Sam Leavitt, DJ Lagway, and Jayden Maiva
