I still have no idea why people act like price isn’t good. I think he is much better than Williams. Higher degree of variance but i like 60+ yard runs
I don't think it's people thinking Price isn't good. It's just Williams does everything well. If Love wasn't there, Price would be my primary runner, followed by the better receiver/blocker which is Williams. We're just so stacked at rb right now it's almost ridiculous.

I think the perception of Williams is a bit overstated. If he doesn’t have that one Penn State play, what do we think about him? I think he had a fine freshman year!

Price was outstanding yesterday. No knock on williams but priced twitch and explosiveness are on a completely different level. Williams will get his turn.

Until Price hones the other facets of his game, I think he remains in the role that he has. Price has shown to be a bit of a liability in pass protection and hasn't shown himself to be a weapon in the passing game. This staff, like the one before them, generally goes with the most complete back for their every down guy. Williams is that guy once Love is gone, unless Price improves on those areas he's struggled in. People love a home runner hitter, but I'm usually spot on with this stuff. This goes back to before when everyone loved Greg Bryant (RIP) and didn't understand why Cam McDaniel was getting the lion's share of snaps over him and GA III. Then people didn't understand why Josh Adams was getting most of the snaps over Dexter Williams. Theo Riddick over Cierre Wood. Kyren Williams over Chris Tyree. Tony Jones Jr. Etc. There's a clear pattern.

Price is good in small doses. He's not as consistent as Love or Williams, and as mentioned above he's missed some blocks in pass pro and hasn't shown to be a receiving weapon out of the backfield. In the run game he has a tendency to kick it outside if the hole isn't there right away. Sometimes it works for a big gain. More often than not it leads to nothing. I did a whole breakdown of his season in another thread, but you can see this in a number of games last year, starting with the A&M game. He had 8 carries for a respectable 44 yards and 5.5 YPC, but then you consider his big run of 47 yards and without that he's 7 carries for -3 yards. Feast or famine. Conversely Love was 14 carries for 91 yards. You take away his big run of 29 yards and he's still getting 4.7 YPC.

At 4.7 YPC you're still being very effective as a runner. On the other hand, getting 0 or negative yards on most of your carries puts your offense in a hole, it doesn't matter if you break a big one on the 8th carry if you're causing multiple drives to stall with your first 7 carries. Now, during the Spring Game they said one of the things Price has been working on is being patient and letting the play develop, hopefully that rings true and we can see more consistency from him instead of constantly bouncing outside and getting stuffed more often than not.

He definitely needs to improve pass pro. He's built like a brick shit house and from what I’ve heard, he’s a smart, hard-working kid. That’s really all you need to become a solid blocking back, so I wouldn’t count him out just yet.

No, I certainly wouldn't count him out. Dexter Williams put it all together his last year and was able to improve on his shortcomings. There's no reason Price can't do the same and be the every down back.

Youd have Tommy Rees playing running back if he had some eligibilty.

Price has already had a far better career than Dexter WIlliams.

He looks good, but I don't see him getting on the field much this year. Glad to have him, though. Looks like a solid all around back. The one busted coverage was most of the 60 yards. Could see him working into the rotation when Love and Price go to the NFL.
I didn't see the game, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Williams reps equal those of Price. He was outstanding in the playoffs and is a better blocker.

It's gotta be Carr or Minchey, I think Minchey made the most impressive throw where he rolled right and on the run made a beautiful pass like 20 yards up the field.

Carr LOVES a good hole shot to the sideline. He appears to have a gift for knowing exactly where to put the ball to drop it in over the receiver, into that very small window between the outside and deep defenders.

I’m NOT saying that Carr is gonna be Joe Burrow… but the two big sideline/deep throws he had look exactly like the best throws Burrow makes. You don’t need elite arm strength if you’ve got the feel, accuracy and meaty clackers to make that decision on time and consistently. Being able to hit that window stresses the rest of the pass defense.

You make defenses worry about defending any of our receivers on those deep sideline routes consistently, in addition to our embarrassment of riches in the backfield allowing a QB to check Love into a numbers advantage at almost any time? My goodness.

If it were up to me, Carr would be QB 1, but there would be some special packages for Minchey to sprinkle in throughout the game. He appeared to be a fairly dynamic ballcarrier and able to throw on the run with great accuracy on Saturday.

I only watched the highlights of the BG Game but does OL ability play a major factor in who is the starting QB? Above average to great pass blocking = Carr / Below average to poor pass blocking = Minchey?

Pick a guy. That guy is taking every meaningful snap there is for the season. Everyone else is competing against him and gets the mop up snaps in the fourth quarter.

That's it. Championship football means, for my money, is one guy being THE guy.

Just watched the spring game
CJs first drive Marcus was live mic'd - was drooling over the pass to Bauman
A couple players later (Marcus still drooling), CJ hits Larsen on another beauty
"OMG" - Freeman under his breath

Marcus is one of us. He sees it.
