Can someone give me a stereotypical rundown of the ND podcasts - whether its the host, the listeners or the content)? For example, what type of fan listens to X show or this show is geared towards Xs and Os, recruiting, bar talk, or this show is for the wine and cheese or blue hairs and so on...
You've got a lot of them...
Irish Illustrated
The Independent
Locked On Irish
Always Irish
Single High Notre Dame / UHND
Blue and Gold Illustrated
Irish Sports Daily
Irish Breakdown
Here’s my crack at this
Irish Illustrated - The authority. Definitely connected to the university, coaches and industry better than the rest of the beat. The addition of Brice to the podcast has been a revelation. It has forced the Tims to put more of their cards on the table. Before Brice, I thought this podcast mimic’d the personality of Pete Sampson — we know a lot more than we are sharing and you must trust us on the other stuff because we know more than we are sharing and we are the keeper of the cards. Except for off shoot specials, less to do with recruiting.
The Independent - see Sampson comment above. This podcast is from 2 guys that would rather be covering something else. Like the Big Ten. Listen to this podcast as a primer to getting ready to talk about or defend ND to your non-ND friends.
Locked On Irish - almost every power 4 program has a “Locked on…” I find this very generic and usually don’t learn anything new. Do you have a subscription to at least 3 paid ND best sites? Do you have free time and podcasting equipment? Then you too can can have your own podcast.
Always Irish
Single High Notre Dame / UHND - never heard of this one
Blue and Gold Illustrated - if you’ve read 200 pages of this thread and still want to waste your time listening to what Tyler Horka and Mike Singer have to say, I don’t know what to tell you.
Irish Sports Daily - Best audio quality and when Mike Frank starts to share real opinions, look out. I find all of their audio content very well done. I do wish that Matt Freeman did more recruiting content in podcast form . However, I imagine Mike has not gone this way because Matt used to sound very disinterested when he was on the weekly show.
Irish Breakdown - are you an addict? Do you only feel good when you see that a new ND podcast has posted for the 8th time today? Then IB is for you. I am in the minority here and I like Bryan Driskell mostly. I like when he does solo shows, I like when he breaks down recruits and I do think he has some good sources. What I cannot stand is the company he keeps. How can you post 29 hours of content a week? Surround yourself with guys like Vince that contribute NOTHING, but will use 10000 words to get there.
And Driskell/Frank are less then thrilled to be positioned this closely in your list, BTW.
