I think the way this team responded throughout the year tells you he is in control. Now that Saban is gone, there isn't one coach out there that doesn't have some kind of blemish that would make them a surefire success. Marcus has as good as shot as any and he represents what is right about ND. Get him that extension.

Could the bears concentrate on hiring an experienced nfl coach. I mean a canadian and however your pronounce this god awful combination of letters ebberflus. Maybe its emu floss. Either way fuck off and pretend to be an actual nfl franchise.

Freeman has only a few years of HC experience at the college level, and no coaching experience at all at the NFL level.

Of course the Bears want him. They're stupid and do stupid things, like hiring a HC who has only a few years of HC experience at the college level, and no coaching experience at all at the NFL level.

ND needs to extend Freeman and do it ASAP. My biggest fear is not the Bears nor the NFL. My biggest fear is Ohio St.

After watching Freeman high five players, staff, etc. last night before the USC game ended on the sidelines said it all.

ND needs to make him a top 10 paid coach.

The Bears don’t actually want Marcus Freeman as their head coach do they? That would be a bad move for all involved. That’s just Chicago media talking up a hot local name, I assume. Right?

CBS Sports put out this morning that the Bears are looking less for an X's and O's type of guy, and more for a "leader of men" type of guy. Jonathan Jones listed a lot of NFL dudes that fit that profile, then threw in Freeman's name. Not clear where he got that or if it's just speculation.

The CHGO guys, who seem to be the new hotness among Chicago media, also had Freeman as a name they should interview.

The bears need a coach with NFL experience, but now you are seeing why the organization is the way it is.

This is so on brand.

His name will be put out for every job because dumbasses think ND is now a platform for a larger job thanks to Kelly

This is all Freeman's agent getting him paid. He's not going to be the bears HC

Even the Bears are smart enough to start and end their search with Ben Johnson.

Now we need ND to do the smart thing: back up the Brinks Truck, and say “we are going to keep dumping cash onto the concrete until you tell us you are staying here forever.”

I’ll blame Kelly for a lot, but not that. If you’re good at your job in a high profile position, people are going to be interested in you. Every time we had a decent season Kelly drew interest.

ND won multiple games with Drew Pyne playing QB. Quite frankly, that in and of itself made MF deserving of an extension!

Ben Johnson is a football idiot. Can’t scheme his way out of a paper bag. Hire at your own risk.
please stay away from him, pretty please.

Same here, ND needs to announce this extension before Ohio St. reaches out to Freeman (if they get rid of Day).
The nice thing here is we’ve got three weeks to get something done. OSU won’t move on from Day until after the playoff—and that’s even if MF would be on their short list. My hope is that they’d try to get Urban to come back.

I think Freeman would be on their short list. I don't know if Urban would come back, I don't think he could handle today's college football era.
