You’re serious?

This isn’t like when we extended Weis. Freeman, at this point, has earned it.

I want to see what he does in the playoffs first. He’s certainly close to deserving one though. But a one and done playoff loss at home will give me a bunch of pause.

This is so on brand.

The Jets and Browns would probably like to have a word on that one.

Which coach would you think could be at ND and be guaranteed to do more? Kirby couldn't do what he does at UGA here. Outside of him, i wouldn't change Freeman at this point and he has only gotten better each year.

So if you woke up tomorrow and heard he took a job elsewhere you'd be cool with it? That's how you judge whether someone should be extended.

It would suck, absolutely. There’s just parts of his coaching that I would like to see improvement on.

The contract talk is obviously coming from this season. His first season was just okay and last year there was some slight improvement. Many considered this season to be a prove it year for MF. Given the weak schedule, and the loaded roster, anything less than 11 regular season wins would’ve been bad.

I just want to see postseason success and success against, what looks like, a much tougher 2025 schedule. I was completely off the bandwagon after NIU, but he’s got my attention again.

That's what I was going to say. The Browns for sure are the only team that may challenge the Bears for most unorganized and dysfunctional.

It was a joke.

I’m sure there would be plenty of coaches interested in the job.
Sure but then you risk starting the program over again. Freeman has improved each season, he’s a remarkable fit for what the university stands for and he’s young (and very handsome).
The only reason you don’t extend him now is because you already have Saban signed to a 5 year deal.

99% of fans would be shitting their pants because in likely hood he takes Golden, Denbrock, Mickens and Mcculogh with him

No coach is perfect. Look at Kirby this year with all the talent in the world. Truth is your coordinators make you look good and there’s a ton of luck involved. Week to week in college football is crazy. Is MF perfect? Not at all. But I sure as hell think he’s the perfect fit for Notre Dame in the current environment. Reward the man and keep building the infrastructure around him. He has developed players and the program is tough, fast, and aggressive. He has built a culture that I’ve been wanting as a fan for a long time.
