Okay, so GT benefitted from playing an overrated FSU week 0. Does beating 2 loss Navy now mean as much as beating 4 loss Wisconsin?

I'm assuming those would be viewed somewhat similarly, but who knows, neither team isn't sniffing the top 25 currently. My point is that as the season comes to a close, the only "credit" that you should be given is for beating a top 25 team is for those opponents that finished the year in the top 25 as opposed to those that happened to be in the top 25 at the time you played them.

The only exception to that might be if there was a significant injury to an opponents top player that altered the season of that opponent. You played and beat a team with their top player participating. They would've likely been a top 25 team at year end if that player had not gotten injured.

I dunno. College football teams can change a lot over the course of the year. You play the version of the team that you play in a given week. And sometimes beating a team shows others how to beat them too.

When we beat USC last year they were an undefeated top 10 team. We exposed them and they went on to lose four of their last five (mostly close) games. Why should we be penalized for the fact that they weren't as good in November as they had been in September?

I don't think you should get credit for beating teams that were ranked at some other point in the season than when you played them. But I would count Louisville and Navy as ranked wins for us, since they were ranked when we kicked off those games.

Not true. Boise’s seeding is relevant. They could be anywhere from 4th to 12th. If they are 8th and we’re 9th we play them in Boise.
They have a weak schedule but the “best loss” 38-34 to Oregon

Wow, I just looked at Penn St's schedule. They are absolutely undeserving of a spot. They have beaten zero ranked teams and have been unconvincing in their wins, and they play nobody here on out. Wonder why they are getting a free pass.

I posted somewhere last week that them being #3 was an absolute joke from a resume standpoint. They rose in the rankings solely based on the attrition around them. They got exposed on a big stage yet again under Frankline, even in a game where pOSU spotted them 10 points and a pick-six.

Which sadly pays tribute to the watered down, weak duck schedules of todays CFB. I cannot fathom forking out the hard earned duckolas for season tickets only to see maybe one quality game a year.

One thing I've noticed doing the Watch Party threads is that there seem to be a lot of weak matchups week in and week out. A lot of boring games.

ND. Anytime the Irish play in Indy or at Purdue there’s a strong contingent. IU is only about a 45 minute drive from Indy so I would expect a big turnout.

If OSU runs the table and loses to Oregon again, PSU runs the table and IU has one loss to OSU it'll be interesting to see what the committee does. I doubt they keep OSU at 5 with two losses but I can't see them bumping PSU or IU over them. Maybe it opens up 5 for ND.

Honestly after the NIU debacle I’m just glad we are comfortably in the top 12 this early.

We handled ATM at home. I’m not worried about some mediocre white out.

It's obviously it's about "STYLE" points. For instance, IU is undefeated and hasn't played a single team ranked in the AP top 25. Yeah, they are beating them up, but they are NOT beating anyone of significance! The Irish (yes, shit an egg against NIU) has beat THREE top 25 teams, two which were on the road. Sooooo, it's obvious that it's to win each week and RUN UP THE SCORE every time!!! No more Mr. Nice Guy!
