Let's do a side by side then...
Penn St.
West Virginia
Bowling Green
Kent State
Illinois
UCLA
USC
Wisconsin
Ohio St.
Washington
Purdue
Minnesota
Maryland
Notre Dame
Texas A&M
Northern Illinois
Purdue
Miami (OH)
Louisville
Stanford
Georgia Tech
Navy
Florida St.
Virginia
Army
USC
By my count, Penn St. has played, or will play, two teams that have been ranked at any point. Ohio St. and Illinois. The same Illinois that hung on to beat Purdue by 1. We, of course, blasted them by 59. Illinois will not be in the rankings any longer. The only other ranked team they played, was a loss.
The Irish have played, or will play, five teams that have been ranked at any point. Texas A&M, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Navy, and Army. If we beat Army, we would be 5-0 against those teams. By my count, that counts as 5 wins against teams that have been ranked at any point vs. 1 for Penn St. A nice comparison will be the last game of the year also. Penn St. pulled out two fourth down conversions on the game winning drive to beat USC in the coliseum 33-30. We will have to take care of business out in Cali also.
It seems to me that we have had a MUCH more challenging schedule, and more success against it, than the Nittany Lions have had. So people can "say" the same thing about our schedule. It just wouldn't be true.
