It wasn't just some poster's take. If you continue to read through the thread until he committed you will see that insiders still thought ND had a chance whether he was a silent commit to UM or not. The fact that the timing of the Edwards' UM commitment and Estime's MSU decommitment/ND commitment happened in succession wasn't a coincidence. People were saying what the plan was before it happened and people said so after it happened. If Edwards has told some other story since then it doesn't matter. The strong evidence points to ND thought they still had a chance with Edwards, Estime was their plan B if they didn't get him, and when they didn't get him, they immediately gave Estime the green light.

The fact ND took Estime at the end of the '20 cycle had nothing to do with whether or not they thought they would get Singleton the following year and everything to do with not getting Edwards a few days before.
Is that a fact?

I think you’re wrong and nd knew long before they weren’t getting Edwards.

Either way, point of this is it’s very confusing they accepted a commitment from Anderson with their stacked rb room.

Very surprised he didnt get pushed out a la Sedrick Irvin over the summer. Lazy recruiting by Del.
Yea, I dont understand how we think we have enough athletes to just basically hand away scholarships to guys who are average Prep players. Absolutely makes no sense, he never sees the field and transfers out as well as a couple others.

I mean with the scholarships going to 120 you gotta take this kid
Even at 120 it's questionable at best! Maybe I'm old fashioned in my ND recruiting philosophy, but a guy who isn't in the top 400 shouldn't be suiting up for ND unless as a walk on. He isn't a Top 500 guy and plays very weak competition

I think they just recruited for depth. You still got Love and Price next year, plus the guy who is hurt, and two Freshman that should be good in Young and Williams
In the era of the portal and bags at a position known for limited mileage, isn’t this how we end up with glaring holes?

It was either this board or II (maybe both) where I was being very critical about DMC’s recruiting for the past 12 months+. Let’s just say people were not in agreement with me.
It seems like he just half-assed it this cycle. Any word on blue chip 2026 RB’s getting to campus soon?

Folks in here questioning RB recruiting as if the entire offensive effort isn't an absolute dumpster fire.

Freeman was promoted largely because it was a matter of fact that he raise the recruiting ceiling; meanwhile, the floor has completely given out. Big yikes. He deserves a pass on a lot of things because it took ND a minute to figure out NIL, but this? Inexcusable IMO.

Oh, it’s not just RB recruiting. If/when Deuce flips, the RB and WR group in this 2025 class looks like a sunbelt group.

With the 120 scholarships we should be taking 5-6 WR’s a year, 2-3 RB’s 2 TE, 7 OL

This should never be a thing. Every kid you sign should be the best you can get at that slot. How many times has poor recruiting bitten ND in the ass? It's biting them right now at QB and WR.

It is entirely likely that signee WILL play at some point. Don't run a sub-par player out there because you purposely gave less effort in their recruitment.
